I have a 97 Fatboy that sometimes loses spark

I have a 97 Fatboy w/8000 miles that sometimes loses spark while driving, sometimes after turning off. When I wait about 45 mins, it will restart. When it won't start, it turns over fine, and all other electrical is normal. Sometimes I can ride 100 miles with no issues, another time I can drive 5 miles and it just quits. Have replaced "Ignition sensor plate" and coil with no luck. HD dealer can't find the problem. Any suggestions?

Test or replace your ignition module, and you might find the actual prob by accident the connector for the module sometimes with age lose or only have intermittant contact.a can of electrical contact cleaner should take care of it but those symptoms scream ignition mod dont know why hd dealer couldnt find it but they dont put their best techs on older bikes

Did anyone have it apart recently?? One would have to take it apart to see what is wrong with it. Are you sure that the oil lines are clear and not plugged.

Car stalls, starts up then stalls again, starts up and stalls again

This could have several problems. #1 Fuel pressure due freezing water in fuel lines add thermal aid or rubbing alcohol . If you have access to a pressure gauge there is a service fitting on fuel rail that you can test pressure while driving and see if the pressure is gone when car dies this could lead to fuel pump electrical or more restricted lines. #2 intermittent sensor failure Mopar uses 2 sensors to control spark and fuel lose one could lose spark lose the other lose injection with a scanner they call it C/C sync ok (cam/crank) if no then check for each parameters for display.# 3 relay controls ASD and FUEL pump for voltage drops.

97 Fatboy won't start

Hi anonymous, first check battery, connections should be clean and tight and your ground cable is secured to engine or frame. Battery should have a charge of 12.5 volts or better. If it turns over check for spark at the plugs, if not check circuit breakers and ignition switch, starter relay, and relay wire to starter with test lite for continuity. If no spark check for bad spark plugs, spark plug cables, ignition coil and power to coil, ignition control module and power to module, cam timing sensor and power to it. Below is a web site that may have a wiring diagram to assist you in diagnoising you problem:

Good luck

I have a 2005 Chevy Equinox but no owners manual. There is a light on the dashboard that comes on that show a picture of a car with what looks like a tool in the center. Can anyone tell me what this...

I believe that would be your "maintenance due" light. Most GM vehicles as of 2005 or so have a program built in to the vehicles computer that will let you know when it is time for your normal service to be performed. It measures this by how many times the vehicle is started, how long it is run for, etc. Sometimes it will come on after 3000 miles, sometimes 5000 miles and sometimes more. GM says that once the light comes on, they recommend you have an oil and filter change and any other necessary work done within 500 miles of the light illuminating. On average the light will come on about every 5000 miles but it can go to 8000 miles. I would suggest no matter what that the oil and filter be changed every 8000 miles at most with regular and not synthetic oil. You can always do the service sooner than that. Transaxles should be serviced at 30,000 miles or less on front and all wheel drive models on the Equinox. Please rate me on this answer.
