Hitachi 50UX52B Will Not Turn ON

I have a 10yr old Hitachi 50UX52B that does not turn on anymore. I can remember turning it on once and hearing a pop or something that sounded like it shorted out somwhere, and it hasn't worked since. Being 10yrs old I don't want to spend a ton of money to fix it so I thought I'd try to fix it my self.

I have tried to reset the TV by unplugging it for various amts. of time(even days) and that does not work.

When I plug in the TV you hear it power up, and LEDs for Audio 33V, Audio 22, +12, -23, and 27V light up. LEDs for 9V TV, 5V TV, and +B 120V do not light up. When I press the power putton on the TV the previous LEDs that were lit stay lit and the LEDs for 9V TV and 5V TV turn on, but +B 120V does not light. Then of course the TV shuts down and the Protection LED flashes.

So I was wondering if someone could help me pinpoint where or what the problem could be? Or if you think it would be reasonable to send to the shop let me know what to expect the cost would be to fix it.

Re: Hitachi 50UX52B Will Not Turn ON

Hello everyone, this is a common problem, this fix costs about $15 for parts, and some knowledge of soldering. here is the fix:

You need to buy these parts,

- Part 0244211 (was 0244211F) - Cap. Ceramic DE1210R102K - $1.83

E994 - Part AZ00104M - Protector (CRXT491002) - $2.58

the total should be around $12 with shipping.

then you remove the old ones, the numbers are labeled on the actual circuit board but if you still cant find them these pictures might help you:

and once they are removed solder the parts you bought in the place of them and plug the TV in and enjoy!

Hitachi 50UX53K Ultravision will not stay on

The set is going into shut down mode for avariety of reasons. Some of the more common problems are vertical o/p ic bad connection or failure, poor solder connection usually in the power or hv section or possibly comb filter circuit breakdown causing 12V line to short. This set incorporate 7 or more shut down circuits and any one of them could be triggering - more trouble shooting is required

When i turn on the TV it continually scrolls throw the channels

My guess would be that the channel up or down switch on the set has become shorted or the plastic button has been forced in making constant contact with the switch behind it.

Hitachi 46ex3bc

I have the same problem with mine. i,m pretty sure that it is the built in surge protector is bad. Try unplugging the tv for 30 seconds then plug it back in and turn it on. If your surge protector has not completely gone bad this might work a few times. mine won't turn on at all anymore.
