Question about Fedders Appliance Air Conditioner Wall

1 Answer

I have a fedders ac unit that has temp settings. I was wondering if there is some way to override the 66 degree setting to make it run cooler to make the room colder. (like the older styles...down to 50 degrees!!) (I AM mechanically inclined if need to access, solder, etc.) Thank you in advance Bill billmaucher@yahoo.com

You can get a manual analog dial thermostat, atan appliance store and substitute it for the current stat, some boards also have installer settings that you can reset the limits, (I would try that first) there also are some that have dip switches that can be set to override, the issue with the last two would be finding an installers set-up manual, as I said I would search for that before I tried any non factory components

CWC-1600 cools constantly

More than likely, the thermostat on the unit is going bad. If the coils haven't been cleaned recently, then I suggest that you unplug the unit, clean it well and then cycle it back on. If it continues, then the thermostat that's located within the unit is going bad. Please refer to the owners manual for proper service and maintenance for your unit. https://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/content/pdfs/140265-1.pdf

Maytag m6x06f2a like new but doest blow cold air

Make sure the Thermostat is set correctly! The problem with mine was the temp in the house was colder than my A/C lowest thermostat setting.I had my AC temp setting on 66 degrees. The temp in the house was a little lower so the AC didnt kick on just the fan blowing cool air and no compressor working. The next day it was warmer out and the house temp was 79. So when I powered up the AC set at 66 i heard the compressor kick in and the AC worked fine.

My frigidaire a/c is set 73fhrenheit after running for a time the temp. on the unite drops to 60 degrees by it self what is the problem ?

AC units, no matter if they are big/small, window or big central units. They will only cool the air in the room, or home, to about 15 degrees cooler than the outside air temperature. If you live in Georgia and it is 100?F+ outside, you will be lucky if the unit will reach 80?F even running all day.

I have a 5 ton ac with two 10 kw heat strips. The problem is that the unit runs constantly on one stage with the temp. set at 66 degrees in the winter. The second stage heat will kick on if I manually...

Between two stages, the difference temp has been set up to call for second stage.. If you need immediate heat what you did is right. But again you have to reduce to your required temp. Hence, wait the second stage get started.

I just got a new heating unit installed. However it runs constantly. If the target temp is 68 degrees it will hit 68 degrees and just keep running. It does the same at 63 degrees. Is this normal?

Dear friend! Any thermostat, it's calibrating to cut off at the end of 2nd beginning and cut in 2nd ending of temp.
Ex: In heat mode, If you set @ 68 degree, it will cut off 70 degree beginning and cut in at the end of 66 degree.
Hope it's helpful to you?

What degree should I keep it on? 66 or 79? I can't find the manual

79 will mean that your house will be 79 degrees inside, I would think you would rather 75 or lower number. The lower the number the colder you want the room to get and the harder the AC will have to work for you.

10000 BTU Fedders. Thermostat set to 66. Only cools to 73.

Just move the Tsat. But you have a chance of icing the unit if you are not careful. Good luck. Russ

Thermostat window ac turns unit on and off 8 degrees above se

the unit may be drawing the cool air it just released back into itself, plus the air close to the unit may be a little cooler than the air in the rest of the room.
