Question about Hitachi 50V500 50 in. HD-Ready LCD Television

Hitachi 50V500 TV: has a red line that outlines faces or text

When watching TV I see a red line that outlines people's left side of face as well as outlining text. Text that is black or blue in color has the red outline to its left side. I have already had the driver board replaced and the light engine replaced.

    Thanks for the speedy reply. I replaced the light engine in July 2006 when I still had a warranty in place. So you think the light engine is at fault again? Well, I have a Hitachi trained tech coming out tomorrow 11/20/07, I'll guess I'll see what he says, I hope its not too expensive of a fix.

    Thanks again. My light engine was only 1 yr old. The tech confirmed it was the light engine. Im going to start calling Hitachi on Monday and demand a new TV.

    We have model 50VS69A ....We are having the same problem but with yellow tinting pattern. Called a tech that hitachi gave us for our area, right off he said it was the engine light, and that hitachi has been picking up the tab for it. We have only had our tv for just over a year. Tech is suppose to call us back, so we shall see.

    I have a hitachi 50VS69A dlp. Less than 2 yrs old. It has yelloe burn ins on both sides...many bad pixels and overall crappy pic. Can I expect any help from Hitachi?

    Our tv is only 4 years old. It has had a red circle in the center for as long as I can remember. We didn't realize the TV was defective. We just thought that the settings were wrong. Now we have yellow lines down the screen. Called Hitachi....said there is no warranty. Great product.

    in the left upper corner there is a little wave and a redish  outline  and red line going through the middle.

    I have had the red cloud for a while now. However talking to Hitachi yes they wanted repair person to come out and look at it first then reply back to them with proof that is the problem.

    Well....A tv repair person wants a lot more money then 400.00 they want to charge us to pick up and deliver as well, oh and not to forget the charge to change it out. I cannot understand why Hitachi cannot send out a wavior to the nearest repair center and just charge us a smaller flat fee to repair since this problem is so large. I am all for the lawsuit!!!! Cause I don't have the money to go through all of this.

    h there i am haveing same problem with the red cloud its had this problem for at less two yr and ask the tech peps about it and the say to get someone out there to look at it will i have someone to look at it and they told me that it would cost me about 550 to get it fix that is for them to take it and to do the repair will i guess when you look at it i all ready spent alot on it so i dont think i could speandthat much more on it i have the 50v500 modle pleases tell me what i can do to fix this....if i was to replace the lamp would that fix this problem pleases get back to me as soon as possble my email is thanks

Such a god damn joke that Hitashi can sell such a lemon part and know about it. On top of that, not help at all getting the part fixed... I mean honestly? How is that even remotely legal?

It's a light engine defective part. Hitachi knows about it and if you call their customer relations department, they will refer you to a dealer in your area to come and diagnos the problem. Once Hitachi can verify that's the problem, they will ship the part to the dealer. We had our part in 2 days and had it installed today. No more problems. TV looks brand new. We had to pay the installation of $400 but the part runs around $1500 and Hitachi covered it. We felt like $400 was worth the $3600 we bad 3+ year ago when we bought it. The color will only get worse if the light engine is not replaced. Good Luck! It was an easy fix!

    From what we were told yesterday by our tech that installed the light engine is that a couple of years ago, Hitachi was sending out re-furbished parts. Not sure that's the problem but we received a brand new light engine and the TV looks brand new! Good luck

    If what happened to you happens to us, I will call Hitachi and demand the same...a new TV. Sorry this has happened to you again. When the tech called to tell us he had the part, I asked if it was brand new and he said "yes"...and it was. I guess when this first started happening, which through the various blogs seems like about a year ago, Hitachi wanted to take the cheap way out but fixing the damaged light engines and sending them back out. Our tech told us that Hitachi has "gotten smarter" so to speak especially when there were some people talking about a class action lawsuit. You may already have it but here's the number to customer relations 800-654-7013. If you go through their regular customer service department, they will send you in circles still claiming to know nothing about the problem?? Good Luck! I hope I was able to help:)

Lamp light is on. how do i replace it?

The lamp door is either on the left side of the tv (when facing it). Or its directly in the front. If its in the front then look on the rear edges (backside) of the tv and remove the four screws. Then pull the front cover off and you will see the lamp door. All you need is a philips screwdriver for this job

I have a blue shadow outlining faces and pictures on my 50" is it color adjustment? how can I fix it - Please

No this is not a color adjustment sorry to say! it sounds like the circut board thet runs the color lenses inside your tv has some burnt out capciters and the circut board will need replaced! (the one thet controls the blue lens!) Please rate my response!

Red outlines and red lines on my panasonic PT-52LCX65

Good Day;
It sounds like you have a Convergence Circuit concern, with PAN replace with originals (STK392-110), using different "TYPES", ( that you may see on some sights, DO NOT), will draw too much current and you will have premature failure.

TV Problem

It is a failure in the light engine itself. You will need to have it replaced. Here is a link to that rather costly part.

Turn off your set. ( wait for the light and the fan to shut down) push and hold the Input button on the panel, power it on with the power button on the tv, as soon as you see the service menu appear, let go of the input button. Scroll down to : LCD adjust, toggle blue button to the right, another screen will appear. Adjust the squares on the screen until the ghosts are gone. hit Exit twice::Ghosts are Busted!
