Question about Refrigerators
Floating filmy particles of brown junk is in the water coming out of the dispenser. what could be causing this? thanks
Hey, fridgetech. There seems to be real no real way we experts can contact one another, thats why im replying to this post. If we could easily contact one another if we had a problem or issue in the field it would be another asset to all of us on fixya. You seem to be a very knowlegeable tech. Ive had some customers say to me my water has dark flakes in it...Ive never known what that could be. I would always reccomend a new filter regardless if anyone was complaining about taste, quality. Also you helped me understand a little more why the whirlpool modules were breaking I was ust replacing the module thinking i was saving my customers money vs the new IDIM. I had 2 recalls on about 20 module jobs and both of them stated either they could hear the motor trying to eject the ice but the heater cycled off too early and it sits there for days. Now I can inspect to see which tstat it has. On another note Ive had several Frigidaire built upright freezers have a freon leak in the derfost drain pan (the discharge rite off the compressor goes in here). It totally contaminates the system with water and sometimes even blood that all drains into that pan. Its a horrible design to me. I was curious if youve experience this?? How did you clean the system again?? I would have to just replace everything including sometimes a external condensor kit if it had blood in it. Do you do warranty repairs on these??

How long has it been since you have changed the filter? Sounds like it is resin from the filter. I would replace the filter and run about 3-4 gallons thru the dispenser.

Thank you for your post, friend!
I understand that you are seeing a brown liquid come from under your dispenser area. I would recommend you having a professional come out to your appliance to check and assure the water lines are connected properly and not developing any moisture problems to form from under your dispenser. I hope this is helpful. -Matt
