How do I get into safemode on my acer aspire desktop

1 Restart the Acer Aspire netbook by pressing the "power" button on the netbook's keyboard or by pressing the "CTRL," "ALT" and "DEL" keys at the same time. 2 During startup, hold down the "F8" function key immediately when you see the "Acer" splash screen and the option for entering "Setup." 3 Keep pressing the "F8" key until the "Advanced Boot Options" menu appears. If you receive a "keyboard error," restart the Acer Aspire and repeat step 2. 4 Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Safe Mode" selection on the "Advanced Boot Options" menu. The arrow keys are located on the right-hand side of the Acer Aspire keyboard. 5 Press the "Enter" key to execute the "Safe Mode" selection. The Windows operating system will now start in "Safe Mode" and you can perform a system restore or make needed changes to get your Acer Aspire to boot normally again. When i try to boot windows it seems to boot then i get a screen that says installing cleanup and it has stayed for 3 days now at 48/49

3 days? I would say there's a problem.

Boot into safe mode (pressing F8 repeatedly every half seconds after switching on.

Choose 'safe mode' from menu.

If OK, you'll know it's not serious.

Try again.

If still same thing, go into safe mode again but remove programs that load into memory at startup.

Go to 'run'.

type: MS config

Go to: Boot tab.

Take tick out of anything you don't trust, one item at a time and keep retrying.

Once it works OK, leave the tick out of that box.

I have an Acer Aspire One AOD250 that will not load windows xp normally. It will only load in safe mode. When I turn on the computer it just hangs on the Windows XP page. What can I do?

Boot into Safe Mode with Command Prompt (F8 during startup)

run this command once it's loaded: chkdsk /r

Let me know what happens after normal startup again.

I have an hp compaq nx4800 laptop which diplats ounce on booting and then off,i dont its problem

try to go in safe mode or choose last known good configration

In safe mode, go to start->run, type in msconfig, and the system configuration window will come up.

First, try clicking on startup and say disable all, then say apply. Try restarting your computer and loading it normally, and see if it lets you get anywhere. If it does, you can go back into msconfig and start enabling startup items again until you find the one that is messing you up.

If that didn't work, try going back into msconfig, keep all the startup items disabled, and click on the services tab. check the box saying hide all microsoft services, then click on disable all, and hit apply. Try restarting into Windows normally again, if it works, then again, you have to figure out which service/startup items are affecting your boot up.

If that didn't work either, then you may have a graphics card issue. Where does it stop when you try to load Windows normally?

When i start the netbook it works fine then freezes up then a bright blue screen comes up and tells me i need to restart it.

This happened because you have a driver issue. you need to restart in SAFE mode press F8 at boot up. go to device manager and uninstall & delete drivers for anything with a yellow exclamation mark next to it. If no exclamation mark, remove the "Display Adapter" and reboot. If the PC now boot, then you must re-install the relevant driver again. If it still won't start back to safe mode and when boots go to RUN type in MSCONFIG and then enter. This will bring up a windows go to the startup tab and disable all. then reboot, if all OK then add things back to the startup again until you find the thing that hangs you up and remove it. then re-enable the rest of them and your back to normal.

Acer will not boot up,it keeps going back to asking the option of safe mode or startup normal screen.

This is a multi/complicated issue. I suspect your msconfig was changed and a checkbox is unchecked. I would startup in either safe or regular mode.

Then when in Windows, Start, then RUN
Type msconfig and hit OK

A screen will open up with a bunch of TABs at the top.
Select BOOT.INI one

When the scren opens you should see 5 check boxes on the left.
Make sure all of them are blank.
Say OK and APPLY and reboot
That should stop that other screen coming up.

Hi from london, have new acer aspire 1 zg5 new keeps shutting down after boot can u hlp pls?

Try booting the system to Safe mode.

To boot to safe mode:
Restart the computer. As soon as the BIOS has finished loading, keep tapping on F8 key on your keyboard. When the Windows Options menu appears select the "Safe mode" then press Enter.

Once you managed to boot to Safe mode, change the computer startup and recovery settings by right-clicking "My Computer" then select Properties. Select Advanced tab. Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings. Uncheck the box for "Automatically restart" under System Failure.

Reboot again normally, see if it will reboot again by itself. If you managed to make the system boot normally, proceed to Events Viewer to find out what is the caused.

If the system failed to boot normally after doing the above, you might want to boot the system to "Last known good configuration"

Have you tried booting into safe mode? If not, hit F8 at startup (before the Windows logo) and see if safe mode works. If you can get into safe mode and not normal mode, you have either a) driver problem or b) Windows corruption

If that is the case, you can remove your drivers from your device manager (video and audio drivers are the biggest culprits) and try booting normally again. If the drivers are the problem, windows will boot and try to load drivers for the devices that you removed.

If you end up removing all devices and Windows still won't boot, you either have spyware or viruses on your system ... or Windows is so corrupted that you will need to reinstall.

Be aware that if you have bugs in your system, a simple "Windows repair" might not work. You can try it, but just be aware. Worst case scenario, boot into safe mode again, back up your files to a flash drive, external drive or another partition, then reinstall Windows "clean", which will wipe the C drive and reload a clean install with no bugs and no problems :)

Good luck - hope it helps!
