Convergence Problem R56W36 - Televison & Video

Usually tracking information is emailed and within 24 hrs tracking should be updated in most cases of the item shipping.

If you can't get the convergence menu to appear(as it used to) on screen and the convergence is way off - the internal fuse (picofuse) near the flyback has blown and there is likely a problem in the convergence circuits.

1. With the TV on, press and hold the MENU button on the TV front panel.
2. While holding that button, press and hold the MENU button on your remote.
3. Hold both buttons for ~5 seconds until the service menu comes up on the TV.
4. Release the remote MENU button first, then the TV MENU button.

yes the convergence needs to be repaired. You can get a kit for your model which includes both convergence ICs and all the feed resistors . the kit also includes free instructions so you can do the repair yourself. Heres the link to the proper repair kit for your model.

Please follow the steps below.


green is fixed so you have to move red and blue to green.
by using the remote you may find a simple converge function and open this and using arrow keys move the blue or red first to center of screen, repeat for other color you should see the lines moving toward a a white center point.

if the lines do not move with remote try manual ...menu on the set. if still no movement you have a problem on the convergence board and need a tech to fix.

A service manual will explain complex convergence to the detail .
but this might take hours to get it right.

If the resistor doesnt read its open and needs replacing. I have no idea on what your origional symptoms were. If it was convergence just the large feed resistors need checking.

If you replaced the convergence ICs did you check the convergence resistors as well, as often the old ICs will take out a few resistors in the Convergence feed circuits or at least increase their values and that can give those symptoms youre describing after new ICs are instaleed.

Unless you can do TV repair your out of luck on this one! Replace your convergence board or ship it for repair cheapest way.You must remeber to connect board exactly the way it hooks up , convergence board has 2 ics on it STK392-120 these ics go bad all the time and when you press auto they quit working.If you need any more help let me know. My picture was fine but I had just got cable and wanted to make sure the picture was right. So I hit the auto convergence and now I have a 3 D look. I have never had any problems prior to this. What can I do? and what was is the problem? Thanks
