How can I find out what kind of network card is in my GT5228?

Your Gateway computer uses the FIC K2BC51 motherboard. The network card is probably built right in to the motherboard. The easy way to tell is to take a look at where your network cable connects to the back of your PC. If the cable goes to the same area that all of your other connections are located (USB, keyboard, mouse, etc), it is probably built into the motherboard. If however the cable leads to the area where a number of covered slots are located, the network card may be separate. The problem is that manufacturers rarely use one type of expansion cars for an entire run of any PC model. If the card is separate you will have to take a look at it to get a model name and number.

Integrated 10/100 Network.
Unless you put a card in yourself, that's what came with your computer.

Sd card wont show up on my gateway gt5228

You are missing the drivers for the card reader. They usually come with the chipset driver installation. I looked up your driver downloads on gateway support and it says there is also a driver in the "others" section caller "motherboard driver"

So, what you want to do is go to there site at the link below and download the "chipset" driver and the "motherboard" driver and install them. that should fix your problem.

Video is out, on GT5228 Tried new monitor, do not seem to have the right type of video card to install a secondary card assume that it is the motherboard. How do I verify

if video card does have a hdmi-output, try this one plus fitting monitor.
no sign?
to blindtest the mainboard, remove the RAMs,
if it gives bleeping sound, it is still functioning.
when booting up, listen if the harddisk or cd-rom drive still makes any sound.
if it is the video card, then computer might hang up here while booting, video device is always checked first, so if it gets stuck here, you won't be able to tell until you've doublechecked with another (AGP?)video-card, iam afraid...

Boot into safe mode and see if you can either roll back the driver restore the computer to the date right before you downloaded it.  the link is for directions on how to boot into safe mode.   Another option , if you have on board graphisc alos is to hook up the monitor to the onboard  turn it on in BIOS and change the driver for the card using the onther graphics.
