Problem for Phones
Generic problem for all Phones
LCD Display on the handset
The phone comes on but the display screen does not seem to function any more - it just turned off and won't now come back on rendering the phone useless.

- It's a Motorola Razr V3i and cost $149 three months ago. Inexplicably, it has started working again after two days on charge and is still going as I type - could it all be a battery/charging lead problem?

-   I just hooked everything up and the display is grey and almost impossible to see who's calling.
Stupid me, this is my second one - had the same problem with the first but thought it was defective.-

-   I've had the phone for about 7 days and the same thing happened. It worked pretty good, a couple of times colored stripes appeared instead of the photos. I unplugged the phone and plugged it back in and it was fine. But now, nothing - the phone works, it is charging - indicated by the green 'charging' light, but no pictures and of course, no access to any type of menu to allow me a chance to try to reset in any way.
It was great while it worked - I have the box, guess it is going back!-

It is unlikely anyone could help you solve this problem over email but it is impossible without more information. The make and model of the phone would be very important. If your phone has a common problem with the LCD that could be easily fixed we would need to know what type of phone it is.
With what I know so far, unless your phone is worth spending $75 or more repairing it then it is a throw away item. Most likely the LCD would need to be replaced at a cost of $10 to $40 plus shipping, labor, etc... Worse yet, MOST LCDs are just not available.

- Well, I doubt it's a charging problem unless the phone did not turn on at all. It sounds like an intermittent problem.... it wouldn't surprise me much if it never happened again but chances are it will. If this phone is under any sort of warranty I would try to duplicate the problem and send it in for repair. If you can duplicate the problem it will most likely only get worse over time and the problem could be in the LCD itself, LCD connector of LCD driver IC, etc.. so simply replacing the LCD would not necessarily solve the issue. Usually heat and humidity changes will bring out an intermittent problem like this. You could try putting the phone in the fridge or heating it with the low setting on a hair dryer. Small amounts of vibration can also have some results. Sometimes vibration increases an intermittent problem, sometimes it makes them go away temporarily.
