Are you still using alkaline batteries? If so, alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pictures in a digital camera. Some may also have reached their shelf life, and though right out of the package may even have problems just powering startup of the camera. Digital cameras that use AA's for the most part should only be used with rechargeable NiMH batteries. If you read the camera's instruction manual concerning batteries, you may see the same recommendation.

Keep in mind rechargeable NiMH batteries will save you money in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many many more). You'll be very pleased with their performance, and may be angry with yourself for not buying them sooner. When at the store, look on the package for a power rating of at least 2500 mah.

Camara shuts off as soon as it turns on. Lens

I believed that you are using the battery came from the box the KLIC-7004 which is very good. Now since the battery indicates its charge, first thing you need to do is to removed the battery and Memory card, Now wipe the 3 metal contacts of your battery then reinsert only the battery in your camera then Turn It On. If the camera shuts off try to used 5V AC adaptor to Turn On the camera, If this failed to turn On using the AC adaptor It means the camera needs of service call Kodak Tech support toll free 1 800 421 6699 ext 12

While taking a photo snap, don't see the picture on the screen. Screen is black. Can see the old picture on preview mode without any problem

Sounds like you might have accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the screen on and off to save batterie (you would then use the optical viewfinder in its place). Press this button once to see if it corrects the problem.

If the above didn't help, a stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).

To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

A630 clicks and wont take picture. Stays in preview mode.

Do you mean you are expecting it to show the photo that you just took for a few seconds before it goes back to preview mode? There's a menu setting which I think is called "Picture Review" and you can set it for something like 0, 2 seconds, 5 seconds, something like that.

I hope that was it.

Last picture preview

the fix should be in the set-up menu. Look through for "post-view", which should control whether the image stays on the LCD after you shoot, and for how long.

DSC 40 powering problem

I'm having a similar problem with a DSC S60: The camera will turn on in preview mode, but powers off as soon as I switch into STILL or VIDEO mode. I've changed batteries, done the full reset (remove the batteries and then hold the power button down for 15 secs.), and initialized all setting to factory defaults from the menu, and still get the same behaviour.
