SOURCE: 32" Samsung TV, No Power or Sound, power LED on, flashes 3 times

Most likely the set has lost vertical sweep or the feedback from that circuit. This will shut the set down to prevent a horizontal line from burning the face of the CRT. This will have to be looked at by a technician.

SOURCE: My Philips 42 inch flat screen tv keeps cutting

Hello,

There seem to be a problem with the power panel of the television that is why it does not power on if you leave it over the night without trying to turn it on.

Flashing the green power LED light simply means there is a problem in the unit that is why it keeps cutting.

Run a check on the power panel of the television to see if there is a burnt capacitor in the unit, then replace if you find any, also, a cold joint can be a cause for the problem whereby, you have the lead on a capacitor or component melted off and bridging two wrong ends together. That can be corrected with the use of a soldering iron.

If you are not familiar with technical activities, i would strongly advice you have a repairman run a check and fix it for you. It should not cost you much and if it is still under the warranty period, then you can take it back to the dealer that supplied it to you.

Take care

SOURCE: I HAVE A PANASONIC th-p50g10a plasma tv and it

This is an indication that you have a problem on the power supply section because of:

- Leaky Capacitor - a dried up main filter capacitor or other filter capacitor in the low voltage power supply that is producing an out-of-regulation condition until it warms up. A bad filter capacitor on the output of a series regulator may result in excessive voltage and subsequent shutdown.

- A problem with the microcontroller, relay or its driver, or standby power supply.

This is not DIY and quite technical so I've advice you to look for a qualified technician or send it to repair shop to isolate the problem. The symptom will get worst and worst.

But first check if your unit is under warranty then avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free or with a little charge only.

Thanks for using fixya.

SOURCE: I have a maxent

Plasma and LCD TV sets are prone to having capacitors in the power supply section fail. This is the most likely cause for the probem you describe. When capacitors fail your will commonly see one or more of the following symptoms.

  • No video, Power light is on or blinking.
  • TV is making a clicking noise.
  • TV takes a while to come on
  • Screen is very dim or flickers.

Again, You can get a power supply repair kit with the parts, detailed instructions, and support from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com . Or just click here to see more details on their kit.

Here are pictures of capacitors...Notice that the ones below look bloated. They have failed and will need to be repalced.

Problem with Samsung led tv with no sound or picture.

The first things to try are of course the simplest. If you have a picture on your TV but no sound, the problem might be as simple as having the “Mute” button the remote having been accidentally pressed. Grab your remote and unmute the TV by pressing the “Mute” button again.
Next, check what the input setting is on your Samsung TV by hitting “Source” on the remote and cycling through the available inputs. If your Samsung TV’s source is set to a component that you don’t have set up, then there won’t be any audio data coming in to be played.
Do you ever use a headset on your TV? Gamers, in particular, might be using a wired set of headphones plugged into an audio out jack, and if the headphones are plugged in, then any audio is being routed to that equipment, and you might not hear the sound playing if you aren’t wearing the headset. Assuming you never use a headset on your TV, check the headset port for any debris. Your TV may pick up something in the port which won’t allow the audio to route properly.
Finally if this does not work, you can try the old school way...unplug the your TV for about an minute.

The sound on my Samsung 32 in. LED TV keeps cutting out. It cuts out for 1-2 seconds. It does this approx. every 30 seconds. I have changed cables and cable box....no change. Any suggestions?

Check the speaker/s. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience.

How do I fix my Samsung 40 LED TV that has sound but no picture?

Here is what to check when your TV is turned on, power light is ON, but no picture is seen or sound is heard:

1 - Be sure the component you are using (Xbox, Cable, SAT, ROKU) is turned ON.
2 - Check to be sure all cable and cords are securely connected to the TV inputs and component outputs.
3 - Make sure you are on the correct input as some TV's will show a black screen if there is nothing connected to that input.
4 - Unplug the input you are trying to use from the TV (such as an HDMI Cable) and plug it back in.
5 - Check for signs of damage on all cords and cables from the TV to all components.
6 - Make sure the TV is not in ENERGY SAVE MODE, press the button on the remote control to go back to normal mode.
7 - Unplug the TV for 10 minutes to see if there was a temporary one time issue with the TV.
8 - Disconnect the TV from power for 2 minutes, then when plugging it back in PRESS AND HOLD THE POWER BUTTON ON THE TV FOR 10 to 20 SECONDS to try and force the TV to reset.
9 - If after checking all these different issues, you may have a Faulty Power Supply Board, A Bad Capacitor on the Power Supply Board, Loose Wire Harness, or Loose Ribbon Connector in the TV itself.
10 - Most likely when a TV has the power light ON but NO PICTURE and NO SOUND, it is the Power Supply Board that has failed.
