One of the inks doesn't work -epson rx 620

I can't get the lt magenta working, no matter how many times I clean the heads or do nozzle check patterns. I cleaned out the pads underneath, loaded software to do that, worked good for awhile, then this happened. I changed the cartridge 4-5 times -when I take them out, the ones that have windows look empty, though the computer & printer say it's full. Help!

I am, and I'd say you've hit the nail on the head non OEM or non OEM ink in the past, has traveled it's way along the system to the print head filters and clogged them, virtually impossible to clean such microscopic filters and holes, and very tricky even to get apart. The fix really is to replace print head and reprime with gen ink, not cheap if not under warranty.

You can try magic wand stuff and spin the wheel and try your luck but I never sent you OK!

search print head cleaner, ie

or my favourite bandaid, Fill the purge station with windex, let sit parked up for a day, run 20 cleans with new gen ink, and pray!

My other favs include, go to shop and buy new and dont buya non gen. inks

I have been using an epson stylus color 880 for years. One day it would not print. Replaced the cartridges and still will not print. It goes through the printing procedures but nothing shows up on...

The print head nozzles may be clogged. From the Utility section found in the EPSON printer driver, clean the print heads by performing a head cleaning followed by printing a nozzle check pattern. A head cleaning and nozzle check must be performed as a cycle. After printing a nozzle check, examine the printed dot pattern. Each staggered horizontal and straight vertical line should be complete, with no gaps in the dot pattern. If there are gaps in the dot pattern, continue with another cycle. Perform up to 3 cycles if necessary. If the nozzle check is not printing completely, and if the head cleanings do not help the nozzle check pattern to print completely, try replacing the ink cartridge. Any ink cartridge installed into the printer must have a blue label on top of it. If the blue label has been removed from the ink cartridge, do not install the cartridge. Using an ink cartridge, which does not have the blue label on it, may damage the printer. Caution: If you have already installed a cartridge which is missing the blue label, or if a previously installed ink cartridge was missing its blue label at the time it was installed, and now head cleanings do not help the nozzle check pattern to print completely, your printer may require service and you should contact the EPSON Connection for further assistance.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

Depending on when you last used your printer it may take a few head cleans before the ink prints. Print a nozzle check after each clean (uses minimal ink).

Also be aware each clean depletes your other carts as well.

Epsons are notorious for this sort of problem, especially in used infrequently as ink residue dries on the print head; try using a cleaning cartridge, or swab around relevant print head with cotton bud and ethanol/isopropyl alcohol. Here are examples of cleaning carts, there are others

Checking the Print Head Nozzles
If your printouts are faint or have gaps in them, some of the nozzles in the print
head may be clogged or ink may be running low in one or more of the ink
cartridges. Follow the steps below to check the print head nozzles.
1. Load letter-size paper in the sheet feeder.
2. Turn off the NX100 Series.
3. Hold down the y Stop button as you press the P On button to turn the
NX100 Series back on. Hold down both buttons until the P On light begins
to flash, then release the buttons.
Cleaning the Print Head 21
4. Check the nozzle check pattern that prints to see if there are gaps in the lines.
5. If there are no gaps, the print head is clean. If there are gaps or the pattern is
faint, clean the print head as described in the next section.
Cleaning the Print Head
If print quality has declined and the nozzle check pattern indicates clogged
nozzles, you can clean the print head. Print head cleaning uses ink, so clean it only
if necessary.
You cannot clean the print head if an ink cartridge is expended, and you may not be able
to clean it when a cartridge is low. You must replace the cartridge first (see page 23).
1. Make sure the NX100 Series is on and the B ink light is off.
2. Hold down the y Stop button for three seconds to start the cleaning cycle,
which lasts around one minute.
Never turn off the NX100 Series during head cleaning or you may damage it.
3. When the P On light stops flashing, run a nozzle check (as described on
page 20) to verify that the print head is clean.
4. If there are still gaps or lines, or the test patterns are faint, run another
cleaning cycle and check the nozzles again.
If you don’t see any improvement after cleaning the print head two times, turn off your
NX100 Series and wait at least six hours to let any dried ink soften. Then try cleaning
the print head again. If quality does not improve, one of the ink cartridges may need to
be replaced. If that doesn’t help, contact Epson as described on page 31.
If you do not use your NX100 Series often, it is a good idea to print a few pages at least
once a month to maintain good print quality.
Good Luck and Please rate me.

Problem with printing - streaks yellow and green not all colours are printing, not used for some time but new cartridges have been put in

Follow these steps to print a nozzle check:

  1. Turn off the Stylus CX.

  2. Load letter-size paper in the sheet feeder.

  3. Press the cp_button_48_er.gif ink and cp_button_1.gif On buttons together and hold them down for about 3 seconds.

The Stylus CX turns on and prints a test pattern, which includes anozzle check. Shown below are some examples of what the nozzle checkmay look like.

Nozzle check pattern with no gaps im_158_er.gif
Nozzle check pattern with gaps im_159_er.gif

If any of the colors is missing, perform a head cleaning routine. It appears that the magenta head is having some problem. Try printing again after performing a head cleaning task. If the problem continues you might need to replace the head.

Thank you.

Epson Stylus R230 Light Magenta Not working

Print first a nozzle check pattern, self test which they say. Check your manual for your printer, it should be accessible from that if you dont have any manual, go to the epson website and download a manual. Usually the self test would go like this.

While the printer is turned off, you press and hold down the paper feed button, continue holding it down while turning on the printer. It will print the nozzle check pattern standalone. If you see all the colors then the issue your having is a color management issue, if you do not see the cyan, magenta, yellow, black, light magenta and light cyan from that test; then you will need to do 3 consecutive times of Head Cleaning from the maintenance program in your computer. If you have a windows xp it goes like this.

Click on start go to control panel - printers and faxes -
you right click on your printer icon and select printing prefrences. From there, go to maintenance tab and click head cleaning, go through that cycle 3 consecutive times and see if it improved. Good luck....
