Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Drum spins, but not heating

I have a Kenmore electric dryer. The model number is 110.63102101 and I have the back off. I'm not sure what the problem could be. On the back there's a white sticker saying something about if the fuse is open and the thermal whatever is open.

Hi, UNPLUG the dryer! Remove the rear panel of the dryer and locate the fuse. It is white and ¼” wide and 3” long. It is located on the blower housing. Remove the wires and check to see if it has continuity. If it does not, you need to replace it.
Please let me know if this help or if I can assist you further.

Thanks

Hi, In case the fuse checks out ok, here is more on the element. UNPLUG the dryer! The element is on the right hand side. Plug the dryer back in and test to see if there is 240V going to the element posts. If there is voltage, but no heat, change the element. If it does not, you need to test the thermostats for continuity. If any of the thermostats are open, replace it. I hope this helps you.

Please let me know if this help or if I can assist you further.

    Thanks

Hello,my kenmore dryer wont heat. i am not sure where the fuess are? thank you mike

There are no fuses internal to the dryer, except for a thermal fuse located with the strip heating element.

Let's start with the basics, does the motor turn the drum but the unit just does not heat?

Is this a gas or electric dryer?

Please provide Make and Model number of the dryer.

Dryer heats but drum does not turn when the start button is pushe

You need to check the drum belt. With dryer empty, reach in and give it a spin. If the belt is good, it will stop in 1/2 turn or less when released. If the belt broke, it will spin almost a full turn.

Kenmore dryer model number 110.66912691 not heating.

Check the house electrical panel for tripped dryer-circuit breaker-pair. Push off, then on. If immediately re-trips, the dryer has a dead short circuit in it. If they hold, then retry the dryer. If it now works, ok! If not, recheck the breakers as above. If tripped again, there is a likely short in the dryer's heater assembly. The drum must be removed to access the heater.

Model PYE2300 AYW the dryer turns on and provides heat but the drum does not spin

your belt has come off the drum or has broken. Take the model and serial number to parts house for replacement. The belt should be accessed through the back of the dryer. Good Luck on your repair. Make sure to disconnect electricty before removal of back.

My kenmore dryer is blowing out cold air

Make sure that both poles of your circuit are live - An electric dryer uses 220 volts to the heating element, but taps into only one pole (110 volt) for the motor that spins the drum. Check your circuit breaker to make sure that neither pole has tripped.

KENMORE DRYER MOD# LEQ9858LWO WILL NOT TURN BUT HEATS

If you hear a humming, then it is probably a broken or slipped belt from the motor to the drum. There is usually a pully on the shaft of the motor, a tensioner pully on a spring, and a groove on the back of the drum that the belt rides in. If this belt breaks or comes off track, the motor will still spin but the drum won't.

You will probably need to take the front or back off of the dryer (varies by model) to expose a view of the belt, and once you do this, it will be easier to see if the motor is turning or the belt has broken or slipped.

If the belt has slipped, be sure to inspect it for wear, and replace it if worn. Otherwise, it will slip again and you'll have to repeat the process.
