Was the burning a burned rubber smell? Maybe its your belt. either off track or worn down and motor is spinning but the belt is not turning. Just something to check.
Sounds like your drive belt is loose or worn out. You will probably need a new belt. Is it possible something got inside the machine and jammed the belt?
turn the wash temperature control knob anticlockwise until you come to the key symbol at the end of the blue zone; then turn the knob a little further and the door will swing open; a special safety device prevents thedoor from opening during the wash or at the end of the spin cycle; at the end of the spin wait up to two minutes before opening the door - the instructions from the user's manual. good luck!
And below is the instruction on how to solve the problem.
The Hoover750 is a washing machine that offers many standard features
and a few additional options, including energy saving cycles, variable
spin and water pressure options and pre-wash, extra rinse and timer
features. Available online and in select appliance, department or home
retail stores, the Hoover washing machine should function well with
basic maintenance and care. However, if individuals experience problems
with the machine, some troubleshooting steps may be beneficial in
locating the source of the issue and a potential resolution.
1. Ensure the Hoover washing machine is firmly connected to a
grounded power supply if the machine is not working. Reset the circuit
breaker if necessary.
2 Turn the main power switch to "On" and open and close the washer
door firmly if the electrical outlet has power but the washer is not
functioning. The washer will not operate if not turned on or if the
door is open.
3 Verify the water inlet hoses are connected firmly and are turned on
if there is no water flowing to the washing machine. Straighten out any
kinks in the hoses and remove possible obstructions from the inlet
screen.
4 Straighten the drain hose if the water is not draining from the unit.
Remove any possible blockages from the drain hose. Tighten the hose if
necessary.
5 Avoid selecting a "No Spin" option if the washer is not spinning
water out of the drum. Choose a new spin cycle and press "Start" to
remove water from the drum.
6 Verify that all four feet are touching the ground evenly if the
washing machine is rocking or vibrating during use. Adjust as needed.
Not spinning at all can sometimes be caused by a blocked filter or drain pipe. Does your machine spin if you turn the dial to the spin only setting?
Ours has developed a fault whereby it won't spin at the end of a normal cycle, but if I turn the dial to 'off' then to 'spin only', it will spin.
There is a known problem with these washers whereby a small electrical current 'leak' from the heater element causes the machine to think it still has water in it.
Disconnect the wires on the heater (tape them up or otherwise make safe) then run a cycle to verify that part as the problem.
Door will not open if it has water in it.
Lay hose down to get rid of water, then you can open door.
Try the spin with no water in, if it spins, then you have a draining problem
Your problem could be caused the interlock but it could also be that the machine is failing to drain in the time alllowed and therefore the machine will not spin, before buying a lock check the sump hose and pump area for blockages.
do you actually see smoke or is it you have a burning smell
if you have a smell the motor may be overloading on spin
sometimes this is due to too much soap powder in wash
and when machine spins the water cant get away due to soap suds under and around bowl
acts like a brake on motor
try no soap powder in next wash
a good way to tell is that you still have soap in washing if you lift the lid (with no soap powder added)
more then likely that the pump has some kind of blockage in it this will cause the washer not to empty fully which when it goes onto spin it will bang about due to the water going from side to side check the pump will be underneath just were the drain hose goes into the washer you will have to strip to get the blockage out once done it should work fine m8
