Question about Whirlpool MH1150XMQ Microwave Oven

1 Answer

No power to unit

Everything on the display lights up. When I set a cook time. The unit counts down, but nothing else happens. The problem did not start until I tried to replace the light under the unit. It would flicker, I tried to change it. I took off the bottom panel, noticed the bulb was loose, tightened it, then it blew up. After that only the control panel works, but nothing else. I need some help. I've only had the unit 5 yrs and it gets below normal use. Please help me to salvage this unit.

I hear a loud tick or spring sound when I push the start button but nothing else. Let is sit unplugged for an hour, checked the door switches but no change.

I would first suggest that the door switches and door switch mounts be checked, but one of the problems is almost certainly trouble on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide for $39.95 postpaid.

The light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This often can affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on. Other trouble can occur as well.

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement,
disassembly information and info on our repair service at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Please write back with more details if you need further help.

My microwave stopped working you can input time but when you push start nothing happens it has power and everything just will not start its like the start button does not work

Possibly a bad door switch behind the holes where the latch hooks go into. Usually with the bad switch the timer counts down but nothing runs. It all depends on which switch is bad. Usually 3 switches inside.

When it times down but doesnt heat it is typically a problem with the door switches, especially one you just bought, may have been from shipping . A switch or connection may have been disodged when being shipped to you. Most machines have something like 4-5 wswitches, If 1 doesnt report right it will stiop the unit from running. But since some of them are closed it will accept the programing and try to operate. So a lot of times you get fan running and tray turning but no power to the secondary circuits. You will need to find out who does warranty for them or return it where you bought it as a defective unit.

I would replace the door switches and set up the door gap to 1/8" just enough to alow for a little play.
Setting the door square is acheived by slackening the lower door hinge and re tightening it when the door is square.
Hope that helps.

We changed the cooktop bulb and now nothing works. When you push the light button the light inside the microwave turns on. If you set the cook time the time counts down but nothing runs.

Check the door interlock switches. They will keep the unit from starting but you will have power everywhere else. If this is helpful, Please leave positive feedback. Thanks, SnugglePants

Does not cook - time counts down extremely fast

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes.

Then let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.
and please reply back with your brand and model number so we can help you.
