A lot of auto parts come in the form of a filter which is designed to
remove impurities and foreign objects from a stream of gas or liquid. A
typical car employs an oil filter, a transmission filter, a fuel
filter, and an air filter. However, there is yet another type of filter
which is least common to car owners. The cabin air filter, also
referred to as the passenger compartment filter, the pollen filter, the
dust filter, or the interior ventilation filter is inherent in vehicles
manufactured in the 80s. More and more vehicles are now equipped with
cabin air filters, but what exactly is a cabin air filter? The cabin
air filter is tasked to eliminate almost all of the airborne elements
that come with the air that enters the passenger compartment. It is
guaranteed to enhance the quality of the air that goes around the
passengers area. The cabin air filter is attached under the dashboard,
behind the glove compartment or in the engine chamber. Your factory
cabin air filter may be worn and torn with use and time, which is why
an aftermarket Chevy
cabin air filter replacement is manufactured. The Chevy cabin air
filter replacement is designed to ideally replace your factory cabin
air filter which is created to top the performance of your old one. The
Chevy cabin air filter replacement is ideal to use because it helps
purify the air and remove particles that might cause the passengers
allergic reactions. It is highly beneficial not only to the car
occupants, but also of the car driver so that he will not get
distracted from controlling the maneuvers of the vehicle operation.
Hiya...the cabin air filter is located below the front passenger/windshield area. It's only accessible by standing outside the Equinox with the hood open. Here's how to do it...(before you pop open the hood)
1) Stand outside at the front-right door area. 2) Just below the front windshield area, pull up a few small black plastic clips that's on the black windshield wiper cowl area- a small flat screwdriver or a special clip-remover tool is handy. 3) Raise the hood up. 4) There may be a triangular-shaped hard foam sound damper at the left side nearby the hood hinge...pull it off if it allow you to work around it with ease. 5) Continue to find a few black plastic clips around the black windshield wiper cowl area. 6) Gently pull up the black windshield wiper cowl cover with care not to bend it too hard during removal. 7) You should see the cabin air filter inside that's held in place by a black rectangular box inside. 8) There's 2 black tabs that holds the cabin air filter in place. 9) Insert your finger or tool to pry the cabin air filter away from the tabs. 10) Remove old cabin air filter.
Remember to reinstall the clip parts back into place when you're finished.
