Hello Greg, thank you for your post!
Based off the information you have provided the dispenser on your Electrolux washer works sometimes. This could be a possible issue with your water pressure in your home or the valve. There could also be a clog within the dispenser or line. I would recommend removing the dispenser and cleaning it out to assure there is no clog. You can place hot water in the dispenser on a rinse cycle to help clear the line out. If you continue to have issues with your washer I would suggest having a technician out to your home for proper diagnosis and repair. I hope that this information is helpful to some degree. -Matt

Slow water flow from refrigerator dispenser

The technician is correct and you could take a water sample from a normal faucet and send it in to see how high the particulate and turbidity is. Then you can decide about a whole house filter. They can be expensive so get bids.

LG WM3500 - Leaking dispenser drawer with Failed Valve

Sounds like you should buy a water filter to put in your house or wherever line to filter the water. it can be a cheap one with just a cheap paper filter to keep out any sand or settlement especially if you are on a well oh sounds like the valves are getting dirty inside and not closing completely because of debris in the valve.

When I changed my filter in my Whirlpool refrigerator, my refrigerator stopped making ice and dispensing water. How do I get it to start back making ice and dispensing water.

If you still have the old filter replace the new with the previous. If all works OK check new filter for blockage or manufacturing defect. Usually most units will work with no filter installed.

It is likely that you have not fully assembled the new filter in the location.

The filter can be removed and there should be no leak and the ice maker and water dispenser should work just like before except the water is not filtered. This feature is available for customers who have whole house filters.

Hope this helps?

Refrigerator dispenses ice, but does not dispense water?

Unfortunately, the housing that the water filter fits into is also the housing for the solenoid controlled water valve, and that is the most likely failure item.

Changing the water filter in my Frigidaire

My Frigidaire PureSource water filter housing wouldn't unscrew either. Even with the supplied plastic "wrench" and later a cloth-covered pipe wrench, it wouldn't budge. Since both my icemaker and my door dispenser stopped dispensing water, and the filter housing in the fridge wouldn't budge, I suspected that the filter was full of frozen water. (Sometimes things on the top shelf of the fridge freeze, so it was obviously too cold.) I used a hair dryer on the water filter housing for a few minutes, and then the water filter unscrewed easily. Sure enough, the whole inside was a block of frozen water.

This would have been such a simple repair, HOWEVER unfortunately it turned out that I wrenched it too hard and broke the inlet valve on the housing. As soon as I thawed out the filter and reassembled, water was pouring out of the top. Took off the big cover at the top ceiling of the fridge and saw my problem.

It's only about a $25 part, but I'd advise that you be careful to only turn, without rocking back and forth, the housing when trying to unscrew. I guess I wiggled it back and forth too much and cracked it.
