Question about HP LaserJet 2300N Printer

1 Answer

We have been able tø print from tray one on our HP 2300 just fine as long as there is paper in the tray. But suddenly it will only print from tray 1 if you pull tray 2 almost all the way out. Setting the print driver to print to tray 2 has no effect, but setting the printer to print manually will force the printjob to tray 1 - but you have to hit the check button for each page. What's going on?

Tray 1 was set as first. It made no difference. The solution turned out to be turning the printer off and back on. Something I should have known to try first.

Envelopes must be run from the bypass tray at the side of the machine. touch the paper trays on the touch screen. Set the bypass to envelope and com10. when you go to print, make sure the paper type is set to envelope under printer preferances.

Problems with duplex printing

So you're saying it will only pull paper from tray 1? This is likely because there is some setting that makes it think the paper in the other tray is not "normal" -- either thick paper, or a different size, or recycled. Check the paper type and size settings in the printer's menu, and also check the settings in the print driver.

The other tray that you want to duplex from is capable of duplexing, right? On some printers you can only duplex from specific trays.

My HP LaserJet 4200 prints fine from tray 2, but will NOT print envelopes from tray 1. It WILL print on regular paper from tray 1, but will not print envelopes. What gives? I've already rebooted the

Are there settings on the control panel of your printer?
Is the tray 1 the MP tray? (The one that flips towards you)
If so, can you change the settings of the Tray 1 to Envelope on the control panel?

I hope this helps.

"No paper" or "Wrong paper size" warnings

Look in driver and see if the paper size is set to a different size. It could be that the driver says you want Letter size prints but you have A4 in the tray. The problem is most likely a driver setting that is set differently to what you need. Another option is to check that the paper feed guide is pushed up properly. If it is set too wide the machine may think it has a different sized paper in it.
