Question about Cobra 148 GTL 120-Channels Base CB Radio

I'm looking for someone who can tune a Galaxy Pluto radio. Also I wonder if it's possible to replace the freq counter lights in the radio they are not working.

Sparky's CB Shack does good work. Depending on your location, you may have to ship it to them.

Galaxy 959 Testing TP3 for AM, LSB, USB with FC-347 or what other freq. counter can be used for this?

An external freq counter will always do a better test then the one on the unit . Do you have an oscilloscope? A function generator will also have a freq counter . Now the ultimate is a spectrum analyzer. you don't need all these but the function generator will work fine.

.002 Mhz is really not that much off, try having them tune to your signal When I talked SSB I would have everybody tune to my signal.

My freq counter didnt work on my galaxy dx 959 when i took it out of the box and hooked it up.. what do i do about this and is this common thanks drew

check patch lead with multimeter both centers and outers should read but inner and outer togther should not. try a power meter to make sure you are tx ing at least 1/4 of a watt. try freq counter on another rig. all rigs will run on a counter.

Rolling Frequency Counter

I'm giving this info from the Master Edition of C.B. Tune-up manual Volume 1 year -1995. The original price of this info was $39.95 But I have had people help me with radio info. so here it is---- on page 60 it says [ Model ] : Galaxy Saturn ( and export models using the same Freq. counter module ) The most common problem with the { Galaxy Saturn } is after it has been on for awhile the read-out becomes unstable. And sometimes it will quit all together. This problem has been traced to a Zener Diode inside the freq, counter module. The square silver box located right behind the speaker. The Zener Diode inside marked D-603. This is a 2.4 volt , 1/4 watt diode next to IC-609 the ( LM-7808 ) regulator. REMEDY: change D-603 to a ( 2.4 volt , 1/2 watt diode) This should restore normal operation. {{{{ 357 - MAVERICK }}}

It powers up....no modulation ...output power..or receive....just static...galaxy dx 949...

Sounds like the PLL may be toast. Either that, or someone has **** with the wrong potentiometers or tuning slugs in the radio, causing to to no longer resonate on the correct freqs.

Sideband freq

That is wrong , I used to have a freq. counter that only read when you applied RF to it on my old Tempo rig and I ran lower 37 and upper 35 so I would key the radio on am and tune the vfo to that frequency and would be on frequency with everone else,I remember hearing that once long ago but it's not true.
