It looks like you may need to replace your power cord. My suggestion is to call Oreck at 1-800-442-8604 and see if they can help you out with replacing your power cord.
This could be for various reasons. Check the power cord and try a different outlet first. See if the power cord is loose or damaged. Next check the brushroll and belt that those are in working order. If you smelt burning or electrical fire or your vacuum made an odd noise before stopping it may be the motor going bad. If your power cord is good and the brushroll and belt good, it is probably your motor going bad.
It could be your hose, your PCB, or you RCM Swivel. Oreck no longer makes these vacuums or manufactures these parts. they are super hard to find the only places that would have them are old Oreck stores that have been around for a while. but most of the oreck stores do not carry any Dutchtech parts any more. Now They Sell Miele vacuums with are the top of the line as far as canisters go in the vacuum world.
Manual would not, they want you to pay a service tech.
Believe this model has switch in grip,
1. Unplug unit.
2. remove screws from grip.
separate the grip halves to access switch.
3. I believe the power cord, where it enters the grip, has slip on terminals that fit on the switch. Just substitute the wires and re-assemble.
Should not require any soldering. Be careful, routing of the cord in the handle is difficult as I remember, depending on the year model, sometime in late 90s they went from a molded in strain relief to a serpentine path.
