Sory for possibly insulting ur intelligence, but you have the proper cartridges in the proper slots? If you do, have you tried using your printers program to run a diagnostic test?

Sorry to hear about your Cannon Printer problems.
Sounds like one or more of your printer cartridges are clogged.
Best thing to do is,

  1. Remove all the cartridges from the unit and place in plastic bags and seal.
  2. Find a work place for ink droppings at what –not.
  3. Find some cloth, Q-Tips and some worm water.
  4. If you are using the see thru plastic cartridges, at the base of the cartridge you will find a Rubber Seal. This sets over a inlet. The inlet may be clogged and not allowing ink to flow.
  5. Do not try to force any pin or needles thru these ports. Apply worm water, with a rag and Q-Tips. Removing any hardened ink materials.
  6. If you have a air compressor, this will work also but remember not to force hardened ink thru these ports.
  7. Cleaning the Cartridges can be done in a similar fashion.
  8. After completing the cleanup task, you will want to print several test pages allowing ink to flow thru the Print heads and cleaned ports.

The print cartridges can be placed in worm water while in the plastic bags.
The idea is to worm the ink allowing it to freely flow thru once clogged passage points.

I hope this has helped you with your printer problems.
Note… If the cartridges are empty or need refilling, Walgreens offers a re-charge of any brand cartridge for 50% less than a New Cartridge.

HP All-In-One 4500 prints YELLOW when Black is SELECTED Could this be a PRINT HEAD PROBLEM?

Hi,
The inkjet printers print colors as they combine the major 4 colors contained in the cartridges CMYK (or said in words cyan, magenta, yellow and black) in some proportion.
If you print black the printer gets ink from the black cartridge only. If the black cartridge is empty some devices start to print black as a combination of the colors in the color cartridge - for example gets some of the cyan, gets some of the magenta, gets some of the yellow.
In your case maybe some of the other colors are empty too (or the nozzles are clogged) and the printer cannot prepare the correct mixture of colors to start printing black.
I suggest you to change both black and color cartridges.
Hope this helps.

Can't print in black because no yellow

Yes replace the Yellow cartridge. This is because the printer will construct the black colour as a mix of all the colour inks installed in the printer.

However, on the printer preferences you can see when you print a document from an application by using the FILE tab and then selecting the PRINT option then go to PRINTER PREFERENCES there is an option to select printing in Greyscale or Black & White only.

Also if you are printing text from an app such as Word make sure that the text is actually 100% black as if it is not then the printer will automatically ignore the black ink cart and try to mix it from the colour ink carts just as it would when printing an image.

Printing yellow for black

Hi Jan,

Can you confirm that you are using a CIS or non-HP cartridges with this printer?

It sounds a lot like the printhead has reached a clogging point where sediment has built up in the black portion and loosens enough to printer a few lines before it re-asserts itself again.

Based on my experience of this printer, if you're using a non-HP delivery system for ink then you should consider replacing the black ink with a dyebase alternative instead of pigment.. Replacing the Black/Yellow printhead and running a number of test prints to purge the pigment ink in the printhead should then result in a clean and more reliable printout in future.

One other vector for problems is the cleaning area and I've found that this can become soiled with excess ink causing cross contamination within the inks of one printhead. As yet I've not found a reliable solution to counter this sort of issue.

Hope this gives some clues and hopefully some ideas of a fix.

Black and yellow ink not printing

This is what worked (so far) with my Dell1.gif AIO A940 printer1.gif that wouldn't print black ink.

It worked for awhile when I chose photo/glossy paper, but then it quit printing again (see below).

PRINT, PROPERTIES, PAPER SETUP, SPECIALTY PAPER, PHOTO/GLOSSY

I got it to print, again, by putting SEVERAL papers in the feeder (instead of just 1) - there is a sensor that is supposed to automatically detect paper type, and it might not be working right, especially with one or only a couple of sheets.

Cannot get yellow to print

I had the same problem with the yellow cartridge. Yellow quit printing, put in a new yellow and still would not print yellow. I had a help file, don't know where I got it, but it suggested replacing the black ink cartridge also, even though the black wasn't low yet. Replaced the black, ran a few nozzle cleans and everything worked fine. Don't know why. Try it
