With the exhaust manifold removed and using a infared heat gun No6 cylinder is @240c while the rest are @110 to 120c.It does not matter what injector is put into No6 from any other cyl or even a new one the problem remains in No6 All compressions are fine,It has had a new ECM and wiring loom tried on it but the problem remainsEven with the injector unplugged weare still getting fuel in that No6 cyl because it white smokes at that port with unburnt fuel

EPS is in between the Accy drive(also calle air comp drive or fuel pump drive) & oil pump.It has a 4 wire weather pak conector. The 2 inside & 2 outside shold read between 1000-2000 ohmns.I would remove it and visually check to make sure the black plastic part as not protruded past the gold metal housing.
------------ Bad camfollower if the same injector keeps breaking/getting hot or overhead adjusted wrong if they are random the adjustement of injectors is as --- On the STC,you adjust valves & inj on same cyl.The mark A is now 1-6,B is 2-5, & C is 3-4.Valves are Int 0.014 & Exhaust is 0.027.You torque the injector to plunger bottom it out to 125 inlbs.Adjust the Injector first, then the valves. It would be best to run flush through the fuel system BEFORE you adjust injectors because the carbon on the tip of the plunger can stop up the sprayholes. You get the flush & run it though the engine for an hour the night before your going to adjust the overhead so it can cool off.thanks.keep updated.

Is this the electronic or mechanical version. Sensors and injection timing will play a key role in running temp. Also, when you say running real hot, are you refering to exhaust temp or coolant temp.

How to reset pats on 2000 ford ranger

Several things could be wrong/bad. The key/transponder, the receiver in the column, wiring, the security module, and the ecm. You need to have the codes read. This narrows things down. I replace the entire system. I get them at junk yards for $1500 to $200. But you need them all and they have to fit your car, year amke and model, engine size and transmission.

Takes 10 or more trys to start if it sits for several hours if it sits for a couple of days it will start right up

I happened to have owned the exact Model and Year of this car. I did not have this problem but can suggest a few potential parts which can do this.

What you are describing is likely due to a "heat sink" condition in electrical components or failure of the "cold start sequence" to reset.

The cold start sequence needs a water sensor to tell the ECM to reset from driving Mode to Starting Mode. Cars usually have 2 identical sensors with 1 working the dash gauge and the other operating the signal to the ECM. This is a silent failure and usually not picked up by the onboard diagnostics. It is an inexpensive part. But, the ECM could be bad if it does not do anything with the signal. The ECM is expensive.

The other part I have in mind works the same way with the ECM. The O2 sensors also tell the ECM what to do. The cold setting for the O2 is different than the Hot setting. When the O2 is hot, it makes the engine get a signal to run lean, often too lean to start. Sometimes this error is picked up on the onboard diagnostics, but not always. Someone would need to unplug the O2 sensors and test them electrically to see what values they show.

Relays can also cause a problem like yours. After shutting off the engine relays can be hot. These hot relays will cool over time, but the points or coils inside may not work properly when the engine is restarted too soon.

Last, have your battery checked. A hot battery can drop voltage and it may be at that tipping point where electrical values are changed throughout the system.

My 1990 riviera will run great, as you are going down the road it will shut off,but crank right backup. whats wrong?

Check the ECM part number. If it is a 1228253 that is your problem. get a 16198264 the other number does just what your car is doing. I worked at a Buick dealer and know about the problematic 1228253 ecm.

Van won't start in early morning when it's cold.

I'd be real tempted to replace coolant temperature sensor, as it sends signal to ECM regarding engine temperature and fuel requirements pertaining to that temperature. For example, it tells ECM that engine is cold, send more fuel for cold start, but if it's defective, doesn't tell ECM to do so, or gives ECM the signal that engine is already warm, and doesn't require that extra fuel now for start up.

Will not start when engine warm

Sounds more like your ignition module is getting hot and not working. I'd go there first before replacing the ECM. You can remove the ignition module and most NAPA stores have the ability to test them for you. Make sure they test it at least 5 times. This way it'll simulate starting and stopping.
