Battery connection on my Shure SM58

My battery connection moves only one thin piece of plastic supports the battery on one side. Because of the lack of support the battery can move. The mic goes off and on. How can I fix this? The power pops my sound system.

This is a horrible design for a battery on a Shure Wireless, I would expect more for what I paid for it.

Hiya,
I know they could have come have come up with something a little more durable!!

What we used to do is put a piece of double side tape at the back (the thick 2mm spongy one) and then put paper or something over the front so the battery doesnt stick to it, battery then has alot more pressure on it. The tape sticks into the back of the mic. Its a bit stoneage, but worked pretty well.

Best of luck

The "SM58" is just the cartridge on the top. It would depend on the model of handheld transmitter. The model number is on a sticker in the battery compartment.

Shure sm58 Wireless Capsule how to open

The Shure wireless mic that has the switches on the side is tricky to open. The first thing is to take the cover off the switches and do NOT lose the two buttons. To remove the plastic cover very CAREFULLY pry up with a knife point near the center from one side. There is a plastic tab at each end of the little plastic part that is easily broken. by prying at the center of one side these tabs are pulled in a little and will release. There is not much that is serviceable within the wireless part so it is kind of a moot point to open it. When installing the buttons back one has to align each before snapping the cover back on.

SM58 wireless with the power button stuck.

Common problem... the mic has been dropped and the guys of it have shifted so that the switch can't move far enough to turn on or off as the case may be. Gently pry out the little plastic piece around the switch and see if it works properly without the piece in place. If it does, then you have to remove the guts from the case or somehow slide them the correct direction so switch can move faar enough. Often a small plastic index has been broken in the fall so verify the guts will stay in the right place for the switch operation before reassembly.

Re-solder shure sm58

Hi,

If you're careful, you can solder it yourself.
Just solder some thin wires to the lose ends.
After soldering use some cellotape to isolate the solderingjoint and to attach the wires to the element.
If you're not familiar with soldering tiny things, please don't. Any technician can fix it for you.

Good luck,
Gerard

Unscrew the wind screen and slide out inside component, be careful not to pull too hard and disconnect wiring. You may have to re-seal with a clear silicone gel afterwards.
