Question about Nintendo Wii Console

1 Answer

Console does not shut off

After a session with my Wii (purchased Dec. 2006), the blue light at the disk load slot continues to pulse after the unit is powered off, until I disconnect the power cord from the box. I assume this is the laser still working. Is it a problem to let this go, or what can be done??,

I'm assuming you have wifi in your home.
If so, then you must have the connect24 setting on. this enables your wii to recieve messages from nintendo 24/7. When you get a new message your blue light will come on to let you know youve got a new message.
You can turn this setting off in your preferences.

Blue disk light on until console unplugged now games won't work

One has nothing to do with the other. It's a coincidence.

The blue light means that there is an update available from Nintendo to be installed. It could also mean that you received a message or news from Nintendo. If you don't like the blue light, you can change it in the wiiconnect24 settings.

If your Wii isn't reading games, the first thing to do is to check the disc. If it is not scratched or no discs at all are working, your drive needs to be replaced. You can find a new Wii DVD drive replacement at the following page:

My Wii is all plugged in but the light is out like its unplugged. we keep unplugging and plugging it back in but it is still not working, how do I fix this?

I think you are asking about the slot illumination for the wii this is how you change it:
  1. Access the Wii System Settings.
  2. Move the cursor over the blue arrow on the right and and select it once to reach System Settings 2.
  3. Choose "WiiConnect24."

The following options will be available:

  • WiiConnect24
  • Standby Connection
  • Slot Illumination

Choose Slot Illumination
Slot Illumination (Bright, Dim, and Off)

WiiConnect24 can let you know when it has received data by making the Wii console's Disc Slot illuminate. Select the option you want, then confirm your selection.

Bright: The Wii's Disc Slot will display a bright blue light when WiiConnect24 has received new data.
Dim: The Wii's Disc Slot will display a dim blue light when WiiConnect24 has received new data.
Off: The Wii's Disc Slot will not blink when WiiConnect24 has received new data.

Wii Console: When we first got our we the blue light was always...

You didn't do anything. This is just natural with the Wii. After you had your Wii for a while, the blue light in the disc drive will only come on if:

You insert a disc
You received a message from a channel on your Wii or the internet or etc.

Bought 2nd hand wii fit, have just loaded disc and replaced batteries in board but power light not staying on board, flashes for about 30 seconds and then switches off. Does it need to be synchronised with...

    Hope this helps

    Try these steps!

  1. Insert a Wii Balance Board compatible game disc in the Wii console.

  2. Use the Wii Remote to select the Disc Channel from the Wii Menu, then select "Start" to begin the game. Press the A Button to bypass the wrist strap screen.

  3. Open the small SD Card slot cover on the front of the Wii console.
  4. Remove the Battery Cover on the bottom of the Wii Balance Board.
  5. Press and release the SYNC button on the Wii Balance Board. The blue light on the board will start blinking.
  6. Press and release the red SYNC button on the Wii console while the blue light on the board is still blinking.
  7. The blue light will stop blinking and stay on steady once the synchronization is complete.
please leave a good rating and testimonial if you appreciate my help. THNX

Wii console not working correctly

When you connect to the internet wirelessly and Wii Connect24 your Wii will stay connected and recieve messages, updates, etc. That is why the disk area stays blue and the amber light stays on. Sometimes this will create a power failure. Just unplug your Wii from the wall and let it rest for a few minutes and plug it back in. The problem should be solved.

Disk slot blinks blue light on and off, even when not in use

this means you have an email/ message waiting for you. turn on your wii... when it comes to the home page look at the bottom right there should be a picture of a envelope and a number. click on that and take care of the messages. most of the time this only happens when you are connected to wifi and have updates waiting.

Slot Light

The disk slot comes on briefly when:
-You turn the power on
-You put a disk in or take one out

And it pulses when you have a new message on your Wii message board. It does not stay lit while the Wii is on.
