Question about Philips Televison & Video

1 Answer

Philips 32PW9536 TV, bought in 2002. Screen has been losing resolution gradually for a while, and now onscreen text (PS3, Wii, Satellite TV, even the TV's own menus) is almost unreadable. Occasionally it clears if the TV has been on for a while, but this is unusual. Just wondered if this is indicative of the TV being on its way out, or could it be something reversible?

This is very likely the tube is starting to show signs of age, If you turn up your contrast or brightness level does it make the picture look smeary? Your description of the menus does suggest strongly that the tube is the problem & seven years old this is not un-common.

From the Wii Channels menu, click the "Wii" button on the lower left of the screen. From there choose: Wii Settings > Screen > TV Resolution. In this menu, click on the "EDTV or HDTV (480p)" option and then click "confirm".

How do i connect a playstation 3 to a philips tv

The PlayStation 3 (PS3) is a high-definition gaming console that supports both standard AV connections and high-resolution connections (such as HDMI). Most of the older Philips TVs come with a standard AV input. Newer, flat-panel Philips TVs include standard AV inputs and high-resolution inputs. To get the best video quality out of your PS3, using an HDMI connection is recommended if the option is available. The PS3 does not include an HDMI cable, only a standard AV cable

Standard AV
  • 1 Turn off the PS3.
  • 2 Connect the flat end of the PS3 AV cable into the "AV Multi Out" port on the back of the PS3.
  • 3 Connect the "red," "white" and "yellow" prongs on the opposite end of the PS3 AV cable into the corresponding "red," "white" and "yellow" AV inputs on the TV (usually located on the side or in the back).
  • 4 Press the "Source" button on the Philips TV remote.
  • 5 Select the "AV" video display mode.
  • 6 Turn on the PS3. The PS3 logo will appear on the screen.
  • HDMI Connection

50' philips plasma tv has sound but picture is distorted

I sugest you to change the video resolution settings on the PS-3 to see if TV sets to any one resolution...if you have any other video out (analog from PS3)...connect the out to TV and check video at different resolutions. If PS3 has Deep Color settings turn it OFF.

Ps3 as no video or sound i bought 3 wires for the tv and no color or soud sows we even used a ps2 cable

Excerpt from the PlayStation 3 Manual:

There is no picture on the TV screen.

*Check that the input mode of the TV is appropriate for the connector in use on the system.

*There may be a problem with the AV cable in use. Try using another cable that is compatible with the PS3 system.

*If the video output settings on the system do not match those of the cable or TV in use, there may be no picture. If the screen goes blank, turn off the system. Then, with only the system and the TV connected, touch the system's power button for more than 5 seconds to turn the system back on. The video output settings will automatically be reset to the standard resolution.

*If the resolution of the video content is not supported by the TV in use, when the video is played the screen may go blank. If this happens, go to the screen for selecting the resolution in the system's video output settings, select "Custom" and then select all the resolutions that are supported by the TV.

Wii Delay on new Insignia TV

We just upgraded from a 32" LG tube tv to a 46" Insignia LCD and had the same problem with our Wii and PS3. For us, we just switched the TV settings DCM (digital clear motion) function. We keep it on high for movies and TV shows and turn it completely off when playing Wii and PS3 games. Hope this helps!!
