I couldn't get my N64 to boot. My father told me to try an old technician trick. clean the contacts with an eraser. Some games took a little bit more time to clean, but EVERYTHING WORKS PERFECTLY.

DO NOT take out the jumper/expansion pak this is not recommended by nintendo it may cause more problems like elon_tl said unplug everything but dont take out the jumper/expansion pak and wait 30 minutes to an hour then blow into the hookup tips then plug it back in if this doesnt work blow into the cartridge but if the red light on the system doesnt come on your system will not work at all you can get a new one on amazon.com or e-bay.com

did you try to clean the contacts of the console and the game?if not yet use a smooth sand paper, fold it.about one inch wide is enough, now insert the sandpaper on the cartridge slot and slowly rub the contacts from left to right.maybe 5 to 10 times is enough to clean the contacts.do the same thing for the game cartridge.and try.
