If this is a zero turn machine you can adjust the drive control levers and tracking so that the machine will track straight rather than go to one side or the other. There are adjustable links at the bottom of the control levers between there and the transmissions that can be adjusted in order to fix your problem.

My 03 kia optima whines @ idle and gets really loud if I turn left or right. Power steering is full, replaced the power steering pump, drained and refilled fluid w/lucas. And now it's actually louder.

take it to a power steering specialist shop
the noise is from a pressure relief valve that unloads the pump pressure when it is not required for steering( idling, steering straight ahead or not steering wheel movement to activate the control valves)
the valve is faulty or the spring for the valve is failing and getting weak

How to Diagnose an Alignment Problem?

tire wear is a method of diagnosing an alignment problem
abnormal wear on the insides or out sides of the tread indicates a problem with toe in/out and or camber settings
wheel wobble at speed ( 20 mph up ) indicates castor setting problems
steering wheel not self centering after turns indicates castor settings
steering wandering on the road indicates worn steering /ball joints and or alignment settings out
car running sideways ( crabbing)on the road indicates worn rear suspension parts , broken center bolts on leaf springs ,and rear alignment problems which will affect front end alignment
this is indicated by the steering wheel position off center when driving straight ahead

I njust noticed my steering wheel in my 2000GMC 1500 is now rotated about 100 degrees when the truck is going straight. My mech. says tie rods and tierod ens are tight and everthing seems normal...he did...

a bad idler arm/pitman arm, You will have a hard time trying to keep the car going straight, it will wander all over the road.
  1. Road walking. When the vehicle wanders back and forth in the direction of travel and it is difficult to keep it straight.
  2. When sitting still, there is considerable play in the steering wheel. It can be moved considerably with no resistance.
  3. When sitting still, and with the front wheels off the ground, it is possible to move the wheels side to side without the steering wheel moving. If there is to much play in the steering wheel or side to side movement of the wheel when the vehicle is stopped could indicate there is a problem with the idler arm.

Steering wheel adjustment , the steering whell is 90degrees off but the car does not pull eather direction. car was stolen no damage just steering whell truned

jack front of car up then turn steering wheel full lock to full lock and count the number of turns from either side then divide by 2 so you have the straight ahead position then remove the steering wheel and replace in the straight ahead position ,iam saying this because the vehicle may have been re tracked and only one track rod end adjusted so you have say 2 turns to the left and 2 and half to the right if you follow me .or remove the steering wheel then just hold it on and slowly drive forewards and lift wheel and refit to the correct position

I need to perform a wheel alignment for the wheels are currently pointed outward versus being straight or slightly toed in.

Sounds like something got bent or came loose. Resolve that first.

The alignment is not as important as with cars, meaning straight ahead or toed in, just needs to be straight. Wandering steering is not really an issue on the lawn.

Steering problem

Your power steering engine/ pully has gone bad. needs a replacement then.

Take care and do fix it on time before you get the steering rack damaged.

Good luck.
