Question about Prime 40 Watt 2 Channel Lead Electric Guitar Amp Car Audio Amplifier

Amp won't put out sound

I was playing my amp (Ibanez TBX150R) with a wah pedal and the sound just cut out. It won't pick up anything and everything seems to be connected. It didn't blow the speaker because it would have distorted before it quit, but it was crystal clear on my clean channel. What could it be?

Hi there,

A lot of Amps come with fuses as a safety mechanism so you don't blow the speaker and/or internal components in the case of a power surge etc. Check for a blown fuse. Sometimes they have a fuse holder in the back of the amp and it is labelled "fuse" which cetainly makes it easier to find. Hope this works and helps.

You put the pedal where???? The guitar goes through the pedal. This is NOT to be used in an external effects loop of an amp. The signal levels are wrong as the effects loop is LINE LEVEL and the pedal is for instrument signal levels. Move the pedal to before the inout of your amp as it is designed to be used.

Sounds like a problem with the channel itself, if the clean channel works then its not the lead, input, guitar or the drivers. You have to be careful when opening up amps as some can hold a residual charge and there can be danger of electrocution.

I would recommend getting it looked at by a pro, it doesn't sound like an expensive fix.

Hi there, i got a 5150 half stack amp and the evh wah pedal, my problem is when i engage the pedal comes a terrible hum, i already change the cables, 9v battery and the ac adapter and the big noise...

WHY are you using a battery AND a 9 Volt adapter? This is an either/or thing. Chances are you have a defective ground someplace. Use just the battery and try it... If the hum is gone, the adapter is NOT compatible with the pedal. A lot of hum problems occur because the guitar is near a source of magnetic fields, such as an amp. An embarassing thing is for a musician to reverse the in and out connections to the pedal... it will have the symptoms you have mentioned.

What is the best way to connect my dunlap wah wah to the amp?

You run the guitar into the pedal and then the pedal into the amp. This is the usual way it is done.

When i play a bit loud (not too much though just when the light blinks red on the hard play) the sirquit closes the amp for two seconds.can you healp me on this ?thank you very much

does your bass have active pick ups?
do the ratings on your amp match the ratings on your speaker?
are you using a pedal?
does your pedal have an output adjustment?
have the ground on your bass checked.
make sure you're using the right kind of cable.
and be sure that the outlet you're using is grounded.

The pick-up on my Ibanez Gio (brand new) keeps

The problem is likely a switch.

HOWEVER I found one that had intermittent like yours that was caused by a terminal on one of the pots touching the wood inside the cutout where the pots are.

HINT the black paint is purposely conductive as an electrical shield and is tied to ground. It is called "Aqua-Dag"

This can be a frustrating problem due to the intermittent failures that never fail in the shop... The problem is if you are under warranty, you would void the warranty by opening it yourself.

If they can't find anything, see if turning the pots to the ends with a bit of force cause the problem to occur. SOMETIMES the pots MAY turn just a bit so a terminal contacts the paint.

The correct order for Effects pedals.

Personally, I like to have all "tone effects", such as wahs, distortions and equalizers in front of "time effects" such as phasers, chorus, flangers and delays. See my set up in the photo. Guitar input is from right to left, starting with the wah pedal.

Ibanez Weeping Demon WD7 Wah pedal is not working properly

Sounds like a problem with the optical sensor. Your best bet would be to try to get a replacement from Ibanez or take it to a repairman. They are a resistor just like a pot but work by having an LED on one side and an optical "eye" on the other reading the amount of light passed thru transparent film. Morley has replacements for their wahs....not sure if its the same resistance. An audio repairman should hook you up.
