Remember that when removing the drum with the wrench make sure you turn it anti-clockwise and wedge it in with a piece of wood between the spider and the plastic drum so when you it the wrench with a hammer,as this will be very stiff the metal spider will not turn upon trying to turn the wrench, hope this helps yu ?

Kenmore agitates doenst spin

You will have to look at the inside of the washer when in spin cycle to see what is going on. Is the spinner motor not engaging the drum? Is the spinner working at all? It sounds like the spinner isn't being moved against the drum before the spin cycle starts. Most washers use a seperate spinner motor, which is lifted off the drum by a relay and / or solenoid and if one or more of those is malfunctioning, it will cause your described problem.

Maytag Neptune washer always has water in the drum after wash is done? Any ideas? I can hear lots of water left in the washer when I spin the drum manually and of course it has a moldy smell having water...

The liquid is a saline solution which is hermetically sealed in the front balance ring on the spinner. It is there to reduce vibration and acts like a gyroscope when the spinner revolves. Good sound to hear when you spin the basket. The smell can be gotten rid of by using a washing machine cleaner like tide.

I've recently done the roller bearing fix on my FAV6800AWW, now..

You have a Tub Seal leak for sure. Did your Clutch Pulley use the upper bearing ring? If you don’t have any Outer Tub bearing noise you may get around replacing the Outer Tub Bearings.

Take a look at these links and see if they will help. Getting the Spinner Assembly removed without breaking one off requires care. Soak in Liquid Wrench or PB Blaster. Even after doing that I broke one off. I had the bolt hole drilled out and Stainless Steel Helicoil inserted in.

Here is the process for a Series 10 machine I did a tub seal replacement on. If you follow my post I’m a DIY’er with basic mech. skill sets. I’m a Electronic Technician by training and and learned craft skills. I feel you can do this if you felt OK with my Clutch Maintenance/Replacement post.

I would replace both the Tub seal and the Tranny O ring seal.

I used an air impact tool to remove the Spinner Bolts and the 1.75” Spinner Nut. You might be able to get away from using the Spinner Nut removal tool if you lock the Spinner Assembly as shown on page 47 in the SM.

See this post for links on Tub Seal and Outer Tub bearing replacement.

Good luck and I feel you can do this. I’m no expert but will try to help you……..Rich

How do you take the center spinner thing out so you can wash it?

My husband is a plumber. he says u have to unbolt the top of the machine and the sides. then disconnect the drum (the part u put the clothes in) and then take the belt off and slide the drum out and separate the drum from the center post. that leaves the center post and the motor. then u can clean it and put it back together. he says its not an easy process. if u need more help please feel free to ask!

Apron stuck under the spinner

Hello blubear0105 ,

Download the Service Manual and take a look at Page 37 “Tumbler Removal” You will need a #20 Torx driver to remove the tumbler the SM doesn’t call that out. It’s easy to remove, post back if you have any questions. Rich

I just did a repair on my FAV6800AAW by lubricating the needle bearings in the clutch pulley hub, the tub displacement sensor checked OK per the service manual check. I was getting dc/uc errors, washer was purchased in 7/05. I have basic mechanical skills and used a socket wrench to remove clutch pulley hub, just follow the service manual removal steps to remove clutch pulley hub. Pull the plastic cover off the clutch pulley hub and inspect the spring, clean/lube needle bearings and the clutch hub coupler that drives spinner shaft. I used WD40 I may need to re-lube down the road with a good light grease. It took a few tries for me to get the clutch pulley hub to stay on after re-install and power up, getting the clutch pulley seated properly is the trick. I did not remove the washer tub for this fix, I believe I saw a posting where someone did. I just leaned the washer back to get a better reach angle, it is a tight work area. I did not want to junk 3.5 yr old $1k machine with out a trying a fix If you want to work on this model get the service manual, I found it online and I believe you can order it in PDF format from Maytag. Good luck!

I just went thru my 10th load of a mix of light, medium heavy loads and all work fine no unbalance errors (DC/UC). Doesn’t fix the tangle problem :) Prior to this fix I could only run the washer with no clothes in it to complete a cycle with no dc/uc error codes.
