SOURCE: I have a Kenwood Audio

assuming they did sound correct there are some possibilities:

your wiring, if you live a humid area it might be that your wires are a bit corroded at either the speakerterminal or at the receiver terminal. Simply cut of the corroded part and reconnect.

If your surround speakers are on a stand the wires probably hang down and after some time, specially with thinner wires, they might get a bit loose in the connection. Simply reconnecting them will solve it.

Resetting the receiver will sometimes help as well, most of the times this is mentioned in the manual or on manufacturers site.

let me know if solved.

SOURCE: how to hook up a kenwood audio-video surround

hello all you need is a good pair of RCA cables.

Use the audio output on the TV
run it to the VIDEO 1 input on the receiver

as for your DVD player vcr etc you can either run them directly to the tv as it will output whatever sound is playing to the receiver.

or

use the receiver as a video switcher and connect your components directly to it.

remember your receiver will need to be set to the input you use. ie: video 1 / dvd etc..

Hope that helps

How do I connect my Kenwood VR-715 surround sound system, Dish Network receiver, and HD LCD TV together so the surround sound works? Can't figure out what goes in the input, the order of the connections or...

Hello,
The best way to do this is to connect you dish network receiver is directly to the tv. Try to use the best video type possible. HDMI is the best, next is component and lastly is composite. This will take care of the video portion. Next, connect digital audio output to the Kenwood Receiver. I dont know what type of a digital audio output your dish box has, but your kenwood receiver has both optical and coaxial inputs so you should be fine there. Once you have both audio and video wired, change the inputs on both your tv and kenwood receiver to the inputs you are connected to. You might need to set up the kenwood to tell it that your running digital audio to it in the setup menus. Hopefully this helps, let me know if you need any clarification.

I have a kenwood vr-707 it gets surround sound on dvd/vcr but I can't get surround sound on just tv.

Well you have a built in decoder/surround processor that will detect a signal with the surround sound info(dvd/sat.receiver/cable converter etc.) and will then process it to the different speakers on your system. In the absence of that signal it will process it as standard stereo sound(two front speakers). You may want to look in your receiver functions/menu for simulated surround.
Hope this will help.

Kenwood VR-409 surround system clicks off when sound is turned up

Assuming you aren't turning the volume knob past half way before the problem occurs, you most likely have a damaged speaker cable or a bad driver in one of your loudspeakers. (Once your volume knob has reached about half way the amplifier is producing its maximum efficiency.)

Note the position of your volume control when the clipping occurs, then remove one speaker at a time and raise the volume. If you identify a speaker as the culprit, inspect or replace the wire running to it and try it again. If you aren't able to find a bad speaker, the problem is internal and will need to be fixed at a repair shop.

Good Luck,

Primary speaker output jacks don't work

here in your manual http://www.fixya.com/support/p235198-kenwood_vr_409_receiver/manual-19163/page-14 on step 8 you need to make sure this is set to normal or large speakers for the surround speakers
here shows how the surround speakers are to be connected http://www.fixya.com/support/p235198-kenwood_vr_409_receiver/manual-19163/page-12
and dolby digital will not work unless the device connected has the coax or optical digital audio connection connected

Problem with setup

I had this problem last night. I thought it was the beginning of the end for the amp but to solve it, you can reset the amp by:

1) Put the receiver on stand-by
2) Hold down "MODE" button and press on button
3) "S.F. CLR" appears in the display and surround is back on.

Good luck
