If muting is not on, and your volume control is at a reasonable level, then something has gone wrong with the audio portion of your television.

Just to be on the safe side check all of your audio settings - on some sets there is a setting for turning off the internal speakers of set - check for that also.

My audio has suddenly disappeared. the volume button on the TV and the remote are working, but I am not getting sound. Any idea why?

Check whether the audio is muted by accidental press at remote control button. Enter its sound menu, and check it. If muted, as you know there will be no audio output. If not muted, check the speaker/s. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis.
