If the circuit breaker trips right away then I would suspect a dead short somewhere. If the unit runs a little then I would check the contactor at the unit. Turn off the breaker and activate the contactor a couple of times. The contacts could be a little sticky. Hope this helps.

We have a 1999 "Thermal

DO NOT install a 20 amp breaker, you can cause a fire. The breaker is rated for the WIRES, and unless you change out the wires, the 15 amp wires will overheat and can cause a fire.
Typically, A/C units need dedicated power, with nothing else on that circuit.
One step that you may try is a new 15 amp breaker. Once a breaker starts tripping, is starts tripping earlier....
You may wind up running a new circuit for the A/C, if you do, size it for the A/C.

Breaker keeps tripping on outside air conditioner unit

The compressor is probably drawing to many amps. Breaker could be weak also.. Need to check the amp draw on the compressor.

If the breaker is hot when it blows, the compressor is probably going bad.

The furnace part of my central air is wired to a seperate breaker but keeps tripping the breaker and making a spark in the breaker box.

Usually a Central Unit is wired seperate, the Air handler inside and the
Cooling unit outside. It appears that the breaker is bad, is it a Single Pole Breaker?

Another possibility is that the indoor blower motor might be bad.

Air conditioner trips circuit only in the evening?

first off, it's illegal to release freon into the atmosphere. the epa could charge you $32,500, so keep it under your hat. second, if it's getting too cold where the evaporator coils are icing up, it's too lille freon, not too much. as for the breaker tripping, your compressor might be wearing out. if it's pulling too much current, the motor is failing and the compressor needs replacing. and do not do it yourself unless you're certified by the epa to move freon and have the proper equipment to recollect the used freon.

Air conditioner pop and then blew refriderant or something

Inspect the capacitor for failure. if it is not swollen or leaky then the compressor might be gone.264f733.jpg
