MY SISTER HAS A PLYMOUTH VOYAGER VAN AND EVERY FEW DAYS IT WILL NOT START. HER DASH LIGHTS SAY ALARM SET AND THE CAR WILL START AND THEN CUT OFF. IT WILL DO THIS FOR A FEW DAYS AND THEN THE CAR WILL START AND RUN OK FOR ANOTHER FEW DAYS. SHE HAS HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT BUT STILL HAS NO ANSWERS. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS COULD BE?

Youprobably have a faulty immobilizer. If the vehicle does not detect the right key it can cause the factory alarm to set, try telling the mechanic to take a look at immobilizer or key .

I have a 1998 Plymouth Voyager van that I changed the ignition switch and now the dash lights won't go off.

Is the headlight switch in the steering column? If so you may want to take the covers off the column if you had them off earlier and look and see if you pinched a wire or put a screw in a wire. It sounds like you my have done something when you replaced the switch

"97 plymouth voyager cluster lights

Firts you need to check the fuse for your instument light and if it good check the connections to the cluster for a loose connection. The fuse should be in the compartment under the hood. You might also try starting the van and very slightly turn the key backwards to the run position to see if they work then. There has been an issue with ignition switches and this problem before. You might also try turning the key on and waiting a few seconds for the dash lights to go off then start it, there may also be an issue with a circuit board for the dash and this helps re set the PC board instrument panel controller. It's behind the instrument faceplate

TRY RESETTING IMMOBILIZER BY PUTTING THE IGNITION KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH.TURN KEY TO THE ON POSITION WITH ENGINE OFF UNTIL IMMOBILIZER WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATES FOR 3 SECONDS.THEN TURN OFF THE SWITCH THEN TRY TO START THE ENGINE.IF IMMOBILIZER IS OKAY.CHECK FOR A BLOWED 40 AMP STARTER FUSE OR YOU HAVE FAULTY STARTER RELAY.

My battery died and now the van wont start.

I have no idea about the factory alarm resetting itself, but I DO have experience with having someone leave lights on and jumping the battery the wrong way. Unless you are 100% positive this is no the case, make sure it was not fried on the jump. If the cables were crossed, you might have some wires, therefore rendering your on-board computers to ****. =) Good Luck.

Also, contact a dealer via PHONE (so they can not trick you into being charged by looking at your van) in regards to factory alarm.

possible crank position sensor fault .It's also likely that some of the dash gauges work intermittantly, or not at all.

There is a body control module that may cause this issue, it has the ability to be tested, have that done first.
