Question about Sceptre computers5: X9 S-Naga II 19" SXGA TFT LCD DVI Flat Panel Monitor (Black or Silver)

Sceptre X9 monitor problem

When I turn the monitor on, it works fine, for about 1 second, then goes black. I can turn it off again and on again, and it does the same thing time after time. One second of good working, and then black. Any idea what's causing this?

Your computer may not be seeing your second monitor. Go to your display settings and see if you computer is seeing monitor 2.
A fast way to check is to plug this monitor in as your primary on the computer to see if it works.

Screen turns on 1 second then turns black

With a known working monitor try it on the computer. If the monitor stays on then you know the original monitor is bad. If the monitor goes off after 1 second again, then you know that the video card is bad.

I have a 20 sceptre widescreen lcd monitor

Have you tried any other monitor connected to your computer since your current problem? Check your connections, make sure your VGA cable/DVI cable are in good condition. If none of that works try to RMA it to sceptre if your still within the 1 year period.

Comes on picture perfect and then reverts to standby. Responds to initial signals from computer then reverts to standby. Switch it on and off and picture re-appears but again reverts to standby.

I have a Sceptre X9* as well, and I was able to fix it with a few capacitors (470uF -- 35V -- 105ºc)*. The capacitors were very visibly swollen on the top. Changed those out and works perfectly now.

The inverter capacitors in LCD monitors are the most common problem with the monitor turning off after a few seconds :)

*Note 1: I listed the capacitor I used, but verify the individual capacitors before you replace them.
*Note 2: The Sceptre X9 power power supply board will most likely have R88 and C65 removed; this is a factory modification that you will not need to worry about.

Same Flashing Problem

My Sceptre Komodo 19 would turn on for less than a second than turn off. Eventually, I could get it to stay up. But after a month, I couldn't get it to stay on anymore.
I found the solution on this website. There are some bad capacitors... 4 of them for about $2 worth. I replaced all four and the monitor works fine again. They are soldered in. They are polarized; they need to be installed the right way. The white stripe goes towards the “wall”.
2 are 470uf 25v and 2 are 1200uf 10v.
I ordered mine for about $10 with shipping from Mouser.com

Monitor goes blank less than a second after turning on.

I start my computer and turn it on, and everything looks fine for about 1/4 of a second and then it goes black while leaving the power light green. I can only see the screen again after turning it off and on, but that's only for another 1/4 second. What's up?
I got my rosewill flatscreen as a hand me down from my father. I've had it for several years now. Was working fine until a month ago. When I turn the computer on the screen goes black after 1/4 of a saecond. I have to turn it off and on anywhere from 10 to 20 times before it stays on. I have checked all plugs to the computer and outlets. I have absolutely no idea whats causing this.
