SOURCE: 1989 sportster building pressure in oil tank

A little pressure is normal on the sportster. I have seen where if the oil tank is over full it can blow the dip stick out. Most of us who ride sportsters keep the level showing on the dip stick about midway between the low and full line. Doing this will also help with oil blow by out the air cleaner.

SOURCE: 83 Ford F350 Diesel Dually Smoking from oil

I have an old IDI 6.9 diesel. They tend to burn oil, and that would be normal. Just keep a check on your fluids, and unless the smoke is excessive it should not be a problem. I must say though, I personally think the IDI's were the best diesels ever built. They last forever. If you really want to treat your truck to a nice treat, after you fill your tank, dump a quart of auto trans fluid in the fuel. The additives, cleaners, and lubricants in the trans fluid really help to clean all the carbon and build up out of the injection pump, and clean the gunk from the valves and cyllinders. I usually do it every other month or so.

I have a 94 883 sporty and it pops the dipstick out when I slow down or come to a stop. Was told that the vent tube was plugged up. I remowhat I thought was the crankcase vent tube but its not blocked in...

Your oiltank should have 3 hoses on it,one is SEND (brings oil into the engine),RETURN (brings oil back into the tank) and OVERFLOW (if there's too much oil in your tank it will drain through this). Check the overflow hose (the one not connected to the engine) for obstruction. If you want to check your oilpump pull the dipstick out, start the engine and use a flashlight to look into the oiltank. If you see oil pumping back into the oiltank through the return it's working.Check your oil level while you're at it,there may be too much in it.

I want to check the engine oil level for previa 2.4 petrol 1995

OIL LEVEL CHECK Every time you stop for fuel, check the engine oil as follows:
  1. Park the vehicle on level ground.
  2. When checking the oil level it is best for the engine to be at operating temperature, although checking the oil immediately after a stopping will lead to a false reading. Wait a few minutes after turning off the engine to allow the oil to drain back into the crankcase.
  3. Open the hood and inspect the level of the engine oil tank. The fluid level on the tank should read between FULL or F and LOW or L.
  4. If the level is below the LOW or L line, remove the cap and add enough engine oil to reach the FULL or F line. Fig. 1: Fill the engine oil tank located under the hood first 90911p07.jpg
  5. Install the oil cap and hand tighten.
  6. After filling the oil tank, remove the engine access hole cover on the drivers side. Fig. 2: Make sure the oil tank is to the F mark 90911p15.jpg Fig. 3: The oil dipstick is located under the driver's side engine access hole cover 90911p83.jpg Fig. 4: Place your finger through the hole and pull straight up to remove 90911p84.jpg
  7. Remove the engine oil dipstick and wipe it clean.
  8. Reinsert the dipstick, push it in as far as it will go, the pull it out and look at the level on the end.
  9. If necessary, insert more oil through the oil filler cap next to the dipstick, this will completely top off the system. Fig. 5: The oil dipstick has two markings for level check 90911p85.jpg Fig. 6: To fill the crankcase, remove the engine oil filler cap 90911p86.jpg prev.gif next.gif

Oil squirting into carb

No. Pull the pcv lines apart and remove any restrictions or garbage that might be in them. The end of the line that goes toward the back of the motor MUST BE VENTED TO ATMOSPHERE - you should be able to blow through it without any restriction.

I have had this for a while. I've put oil in the wrong place. Its not the oiltank, nor the fuel tank. what can i do please

Well if the oil is not in the gas tank and the crankcase (this is where the oil goes) then there is not oil in the engine.
