Question about Sharp MX-2300N Color Copier
We just got an MX-2300N (a few hours ago to be exact) and are trying to set it up. When we try to set up the SMTP and POP3 server we get the error: "ERROR: Connection to SMTP server test failed." The Details are: "(POP3)Connection failed." The tech from the company we bought it from can't figure it out. We are using a Linux server running sendmail for our email. Could that be what's causing the problem? We've tried different usernames but we always get the same error. Our email itself is working fine so we know the server is working. Thanks for your help.
I had the same issue the other day when installing one of these machines.
I find it alot easier to enter the details into the machine from it's web interface if you aren't already.. (Simply open your web browser and navigate to your copiers IP address).
If you ping the domain name of your mail smtp server and just get the servers i.p address and enter into the smtp box it should work. The particular one i used didnt need authentication either, give it a whirl and see how it goes.
