There is usually a pin in the shaft of the motor, that corrosponds with a slot in the fan blades, it sounds to me like either (a) the pin somehow came out, or (b) the slot in the blades is rounded. Hope this helps

Why baumatic rangehood BABT83.2AL stop working

Remove the filters and see if you can see the fan blade. Try turning the fan blade by hand. If its jammed up or tight, you may need a new motor. If it spins freely, turn on the rangehood and give the fan blade a spin . BE CAREFULL when doing this, if the motor starts up and runs properly after spinning it, it could be the start capacitor has failed. If it still wont run or if the fan is tight, you may need a new motor. Spare Parts should be available. You will have to trawl the internet looking for Baumatic parts suppliers in your area.

My air conditioner tries to turn on, air comes out of vents but isn't cold, and outside the blades on the AC unit are not spinning. I hear a noise when it tries to turn on but they don't start...

Outdoor condensing fan motor has stopped running. This problem could be caused by a bad motor run capacitor. If your motor capacitor is not the problem, then more than likely you need a new motor. Is the fan blade tight, stiff or hard to turn? If the fan blade is hard to turn then you probably need a new motor

My fan is not rotating when I connected to plug. There is no burning smell or anything. How can I fix the problem? Thanks in advance

Hello.

I have a Holmes pedestal fan that does this every few years. I have had this fan for about 10 years.

Unplug the fan and remove the fan blade guard. The fan blade should spin easily when you tap the edge of the fan blades with your finger. If the blade barely moves and abruptly stops, the bearings are dirty and need to be cleaned and oiled with 10W non-detergent motor oil. A quick-fix is a tiny bit of WD-40 where the motor shaft (the rod that the fan blade is mounted on) meets the bearing (the part of the motor that the shaft spins on). To properly fix this, you must oil both the front and back motor bearings which requires removal of the motor housing.

If the fan blade spins easily and you are certain that the fan is getting power (try a different outlet) the motor may be bad. Likewise, if the fan blade will not move at all. I do not know if Holmes sells motors for these fans. Here is their online support website:

www.holmesproducts.com/Support.aspx

Good luck from Detroit, MI.

P.S.: Never turn a motor-operated appliance on for more than a second if you know it's not working. That will cook the motor windings.

Have an expensive Hunter indoor/outdoor pedestal Fan that stopped working. It just "hums" and does not turn. Please help.

With the fan UNPLUGGED, try to spin the fan blade with a pencil or something that will fit through the blade cage.

If the blade spins easily, there is an electronic problem (control or motor) that must be serviced.

If the fan blade is stuck or very hard to move, the shaft and bearing are probably dirty and need to be cleaned. You can temporarily fix this with a tiny amount (a drop) of WD-40 applied to the shaft where it enters the motor. Spin the blade manually to work the oil into the bearing. If the motor spins freely, the dirty bearing condition is verified. To properly clean the shaft and bearings, the motor must be disassembled.

Vornado Circulating Fan - motor will run but blades will not turn.

Does the motor spin, but the blade is not turning?
The motor has a D shaped shaft. If the hole in the blade that the shaft goes in is rounded, then the blade will spin. In that case you need a new blade. Vornado can supply that.

not sure of the lasko brand but some fans have a cap over the center of the blades that must be unscrewed to remove the blades.( the motor shaft has threads on the end of it ).
some older models actually have the blades that unscrew opposite of turning direction, and you have to find a way to grip the motor shaft and unscrew the blades........
hope this helps.............jay

Ceiling fan wobble

try taping a nickle on top of one of the blades start in the middle of the blade (from tip towards motor) then turn it on see if it improves..if not change it to a different blade.. keep trying blades till you notice an improvement. Then fine tune it by moving the penny in towards the motor or out towards the tip. It is a time consuming task but it will work.
