Well, being as you bought it in 2005, it may be on it's last legs.
BUT, let's see what we can do. Try one or all.

  1. If it's possible, try plugging it into another computer, it may be your video card.
  2. Another option is to make sure the connections are nice and tight.
  3. If there are speakers, or the like, near your monitor, move them away.
  4. Go into your monitor menu and reset the picture settings.
  5. See if you can update the driver for your monitor.
  6. You can try the JscreenFix.
From what you're describing, it may just be a stuck pixel. A dead pixel would be black so you still have hope if none of these work, you can have it repaired. Cheaper than buying a new LCD. Well, depending. Ask for a price first. If it's about $250.00-$300.00, you may as well buy a new 19"-22".

Thanks for contacting

The reason of the yellow background color in your sony LCD is AHH lcds and dead pixels.
At this time, AFAIK, Art is right, you are looking at a very large repair cost because Sony does not supply the individual parts to repair the optical block. Your blue panel is bad, perhaps a bad filter or dichoic mirror also.

The dealer cost on the optical block is about $900. They show a list price of $20 more. This is the kind of foolishness that many of the manufacturers are trying. I just checked the price of a horizontal output transistor for a 27" Samsung and the cost was over $27. Typical parts of this type are
under $10. Sony seems to have started to respond to the bitching, as they are surveying the "no fixes" due to excessive parts cost to see if they want to make some changes. Some of their parts have been coming in at more reasonable prices lately.

The cost of the optical block itself is not outrageous. What is silly is not supplying the parts to field repair it. Many of us have worked on LCD projectors for years and replaced lots of blue panels. They are the most likey to fail. If they can supply the whole assembly for $900, the panels should be under about $200. More labor would be required, but the repair cost could be easily a third of replacing the whole optical unit.

Like Art said, get a sony ASC to give you an estimate. Then speak to sony customer relations and see if they will provide some accomodation.

God Bless

Is the tv new? On which input is set your tv? Change some cables they are connected to your tv (like the HDMI) and see if you can get a clear image.

Yellowing on Hitachi 65T500 screen

Go to main menu, turn color all the way off to see if you have perfect black and white. If you still have yellow, it's in the focus block or convergence circuit, If it's perfect black and white then it's going to be in yc chroma luminence circuit.

Blothes of color in center and right side of screen. Very noticable when it's a light background.

May have burned CRT(s), (if you are not talking about convergence.) Burned CRT shows when that CRT (R,G,orB), does not show in an area of the screen where it should. Check bright white color = full R, G, and B CRT brightness. Gray = mid RGB brightness. Yellow = R+G(no B), Blue-green = B+G, no R, etc.

White has turned pinkish

sounds like the linear adjustment is out of whack.....most projection type tvs, projection, lcd, plasma, have to be correctly aligned so that the color grids overlap each other to properly display the correct hue being created. you'd need the service code to re-adjust it, or have it serviced. also possible that one of the color grids is bad, but if you have all three (red, blue, green) colors showing on the entire screen area i would doubt it

It sounds like you have a bad Blue Polarizer in the light path. I'm sorry but that is something you will have to contact a service center for. It's not something you'll be able to do yourself, I'm sorry, but that's the best advice I can give you.

Yellow on all color printings

What photo program do you use? Is the yellow background on all Word doc's? You should check WORD go to the Format|Background make sure "no fill" is selected. You should also check your print properties in control panel and any special program DELL uses. Make sure there isn't some custom setting that is printing the yellow background. Let me know what happens. Good Luck, Tim
