I have had it since 06/01/2014 which means the warranty is expired. The picture has just gone bad. The sound is fine. But when I cut the tv on, there is a quick flash then dark screen. I can see a semblance of a picture if I get close to the screen or use a flashlight. My understanding is this might be an LED motherboard problem. If this is an easy fix, I sure would like to know how (in detail) how to do it. I have cut the power to the tv, cable box, wifi, and everything remotely connected. When powered back on, the problem still existed. Thanks, Stephen
Hi Stephen,
This is a case of backlight failure. Some of the LEDs in the backlight array have failed and causing this trouble. To repair it the LCD panel has to be opened and I am sorry You can not do anything about it yourself, because it is a highly delicate job and needs a fair degree of expertise. You will have to handover the job to some good local TV Tech.
Good Luck.

Hi frank, my name is John. Welcome to FixYa. You need to try, what we call a Cold Start-up. What you do is unplug everything, and let it remain unplugged for one (1) hour. Then plug it all back in the outlet and start it up manually. Thanks for choosing FixYa....John

Try the old flashlight test, turn off the lights in the room. Turn on the set and flash a bright flashlight on the screen. Do you see the image or is the screen totally black?? If you see the image, then most likely you have a backlight problem. Verify that you have 24V on the power supply for the inverter

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement.
Fault to the main power supply regulator section. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
