thanks but this really didn't answer the question. if the light in question is out, but all the others are on, can i assume the router is damaged? all other lights and connections are fine - so my question is what does this mean?

  • jlancio2 Jul 16, 2009

Okay that helps clarify thanks. one more question - what does this mean exactly?

Try to upgrade your Firmware version from:
http://www.dlink.com/products/default.aspx?pid=WBR-2310&tab=3

It shall ask you to choose the model number of router from WBR-2310 or WBR-2310_REVB Select your model from the above two. There is also a link that says How do I determine the hardware revision of my product?Read in case you do not know the hardware version of your Router. After selecting the correct hardware, click on Firmware and download the latest firmware for your router. Open the admin console of your router and select to update your Firmware. Select the updated firmware file from your computer. Wait till the update is finished. Reboot the router for changes to take effect and then check.

NOTE: Upgrading the Firmware may hard reset your router and you might loose all the configuration.

It seems that the wireless radio of your Router is not turning On, despite being configured it to turn On. It can be due to some hardware failure or the Firmware of your router getting damaged. Your router doesnot seem to have any kind of hardware failure as other functions are working fine. So we can upgrade your Firmware so that it resets the hardware to factory defaults. Moreover having an up to date firmware also resolves many of the known issues and bugs with the hardware and/or software.

"NOTE: Upgrading the Firmware may hard reset your router and you might loose all the configuration." means that you will loose the configuration settings (IP addresses, pppoe settings, your phone number, username and /or password and the name of your wireless network - also known as SSID)

You are not getting a signal from the modem. Check which port you put the modem ethernet into and make sure you're able to get on the internet directly from the modem.

Have you tried to reset router. It has to be done in order.
1. unplug router
2. unplug modem
3. shut down computer and restart after waiting 1 min
4. after restarting computer plug power back into modem and wait for all the lights to start blinking
5. after the modem is working plug power back to router and plug in the computer with ethernet cable and make sure you have internet,
6. try to link up with wireless,
If this does not work you will have to setup the router for wireless if it is att wireless you will have to call them to give you the password to set it up.

D-Link WBR2310 router won't work with Belkin modem

Hi kinobe. You have to check when you connect your computer to one of the ports on the back of the router you get a light on the front of the router. If you dont get anything on any port (even when you connect the modem to the internet/WAN port - that means that one "transistor" inside of the router it's bad. So you have to open it and fix it (but that's electronic repair and you need to have the proper skills and get the exact transistor). There's a posibility you can still connect to the router wirelessly because that's another circuit in the router but If you dont get signal from the modem to the router it's pointless so you have to replace the router. I hope this helps and don't forget to rate and write positive feedback for our fast - free support today. Thank you :D

I lost the installation cd where can I get a copy?

Are you trying to set up the router.
You can do it manually without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is not able to go online through the modem then you will need to call ISP first.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem
then you need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

WBR-2310 DLINK router is not showing in my wireless network list

I'm pretty sure that downgrading the firmware to 1.0.3 will work. I had been running at this level for quite some time and for some reason I decided to upgrade to the latest version which started the problems for me. I am downgrading to this now and I expect better results. All of the firmware versions are available at http://www.dlink.com/products/support.asp?pid=470&sec=0. You pick the right hardware revision. PLEASE NOTE: Save off/remember your settings as when you change the firmware it resets all of them back to system defaults.
