Question about Sony Ericsson P910a Handheld

1 Answer

P910a Touchscreen is not responding to inputs after accidentally dropping phone in a puddle of water. It started with parts of the touchscreen being non responsive and then everything was fine for a moment, before deteriorating to the condition I have now. Any assistance would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Turn off your mobile. Wait until all the water in it dries up. Or better take it to a service station as early as possible.

Screen works but dosent respond to any touching?

Check that the "touch screen lock" is not engaged. To avoid accidental activation of the touchscreen, many models use some kind of "security" so that after a fixed time, the touchscreen will stop responding unless you (e.g.) click an unlock button. Verify this on the user manual.

My sciphone touchscreen doesn't respond!

what has likely happened here is that you have got some moisture or water or dirt underneath the screen which is making the touchscreen confuzed and not working you should replace the phone if you still have a warentee if the water damage sticker in the back is red peel it off and tell them u dont know what happened to it if not just take it back

Sony ericsson p910a cell phone

Hello. There's a special adhesive attached to the back of the touchscreen that allows it to be attached to the LCD screen. You will need to start prying it off the LCD screen very slowly, working from one corner and slowly peeling it back with the use of an x-acto knife, or other sharp-bladed knife. You must be very careful as it's very easy to permanently damage the LCD screen underneath. I suspect your touchscreen stopped working, hence the need to replace it. Good luck.

Touchscreen

I would like to ask a couple questions that might be of some use.

First, does the same issue occur when using the phone with the flip closed? That is, can you use the jog dial and keys on the flip properly?

If the phone works fine with the keypad and jog dial, then you should be able to try to recalibrate the touchscreen.

To re-calibrate the screen:

1. Select Applications tab
2. Select Control Panel
3. Select Device
4. Select Display or Screen
5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
6. Select Yes or No

Second, if you turn the phone off and on again, with the flip open, does anything load by itself, or does the touchscreen react as if something is being pressed?

This may indicate that there is a problem with the hardware.
It is possible to purchase a new touchscreen for under $100 from a few parts retailers such as http://cnn.cn .

It may also simply be a glitch or bug in the software or firmware OS. In this case, you can try a master reset or updating the firmware using Sony Ericssons update service (not compatible with Vista for the P910), or you could use a third party firmware utility such as from DaVinci etc.
If you choose any of the master reset, firmware or update options, you will lose ALL user data on the phone, so you should back it up before you proceed.
