Why doesn't increasing or decreasing resistance buttons change actual resistance on machine?

All else seems to be working, but the resistance stays the same (feels like level 3, the usual starting level) when I try to change levels manually.

SOURCE: my schwinn 460 elliptical resistance cannot be changed

see the following details. God bless you
Be aware that the resistance is often the part that requires repair. Resistance is managed magnetically, so often if the machine is working, but the resistance isn't setting correctly or at all, check the bolts that secure the magnets. If they are loose, the resistance will slip. If the bolts are fine, check the magnets themselves by using a refrigerator magnet and see if it is attracted or repelled by the your fridge magnet. If not, the magnets have de-magnetized and need to be replaced

F05 fault after replacing brushes

F05 - NTC failure (SC/OC)
All appliances managed by the electronics measure the temperature using a thermistors. These thermistors changes resistance depending on the temperature. There are two kinds of thermistors, NTC and PTC.
NTC has a negative temperature coefficient which means that with increasing temperature the resistance decreasing (used in washing machine, dishwasher, dryer, refrigerator....etc).
PTC has a positive temperature coefficient which means that with increasing temperature the resistance increasing (used in oven, refrigerator for starting compressor...etc).
If you look in the table below, it is clear that the resistance value of 100 ohm means that is NTC faulty. So, I really do not understand how it is possible that the resistance increases with temperature?

Resistance of NTC depending on temperature
0 °C 35.9 kohm
30 °C 9.8 kohm
40 °C 6.6 kohm
50 °C 4.6 kohm
60 °C 3.2 kohm
70 °C 2.3 kohm
95 °C 1.1 kohm

576i resistance not increasing precor

If the display stays at 1, then the UP button may be at fault, in which case you would need a new keypad.

My weider platinum home gym will not adjust weight- the resistance buttons increase and decrease, but the motor will not run

It sounds like the motor is burned out or the connections form the switch, or to the motor are bad. You'll need to troubleshoot with a voltage meter.

Fuel gauge not working stays on emtpty all the time . were is the best place to start looking for fault?

connections under the car leading to the fuel sender unit.
test gauge with multimeter for continiuity
take tank off and inspect fuel sender unit for signs of physical damage around the copper coil and test with multimeter for resistance by moving float up and down and resistance should increase one way and decrease the other way

Tps?

You may have a bad connectors to the Throttle position sensor. A TPS is actually a varistor, or same thing as a variable resistor. It is like the volume control on old stereos that do not have digital volume control. The computer determine throttle angle by input current which varies with the resistance. Make sure the connectors are good before you change it otherwise a new one will not solve the problem. I know how to check a TPS, but it is hard to explain how to do it, but I will try anyways. The TPS has 3 terminals. The resistance should vary as you turn the TPS. In respect to the middle terminal one side will increase, and the other side will decrease in resistance value. Sometimes it is not the center terminal that is the common point. so either way out of three you one that is common to both which should vary in resistanced in oposite ways, one side decreases, and the other increases as it is turned. A short course in electronics. As elctricity flows trough a resistance its current decrease as the resistance increase. The resistance value on a TPS should be around a few thousand OHMS, and the lowest value is around 500 OHMS.

My Weider XP800 will increase in resistance but will not decrease

There is a wire that Breaks that is attached to a limit switch that is located inside the elbow of the Pivot arm. If looking from the Back of the Machine, it is on the RIGHT side. I extended the wire an rerouted it to run on the outside of the pivot arm to avoid be nicked or pinced by the moving parts.
