The only way you could remove it manually is by removing the covers and applying power to the capstan motor its alot of work.

The cassette holder wont come up aoutomatically

what you have to do is ejecting the tape, and as soon as it starts to eject , close the door immediately, then safeguard mode should be gone, and you will be able to eject normally.

Have a JVC GR-D72U video camera. A E03 indicator keeps coming on and it goes into safe mode. What can be done? How can it be fixed?

This problem mostly happen due to defective cassette, by ejecting it, it will solve your problem. If your tape stuck-up inside, apply power, open cassette door, keep it open (around 5 sec) until it opens. and try with another cassette. It must work if not, expert are needed in this case. Good Luck

it sounds like moisture. leave the door of the cassette mechanism open in a warm dry room for 24 hours.
then try to operate the eject mecanism as normal.

Cassette not being ejected

I have this same problem but the cassette tray will not go in. Error 1 "safe mode". I jiggled the mechanism beside the rubber "guide" ( in the middle above the drum) and it works now!! It must be some sort of sensor??

JVC Gr-DVm50 switch/button broke

To fix the problem you need to replace 2 parts. The first part is the centre round rocker switch and the other part is inside the camera. It looks like a very thin, flat round aluminum disc.
The disc has 5 holes in it that matches up the with the small black points on the back of the round rocker switch. It's a very bad design fault with the camera because how it's held in place is simply a matter of aliening the rocker switch black points with the five holes you can see and push it in tight.
After years of use the five plastic points wear down and become to thin because of all of the moment or the holes they fit into gets worn out and then there is no contact for the rocker switch to be held in place.
Hope that make sense

Dirty video head! Playback newly opened blank tape for five minutes, after that eject, reinsert, playback then eject again five times, these will serve as your video head cleaner, never use "video head cleaning cassette tape" for it will only damage your camera. Most camera has built in video head cleaner installed inside and activates only when you insert, initial play/rec, and ejects a tape. If the problem is still there you need pro fix then.[:0)
