Question about Whirlpool ET8CHEXSQ Dryer

2 Answers

Whirlpool Dryer We have a whirlpool dryer that we bought a few years ago. We can't even find the model # on it. The problem is we are getting brown marks on our light clothing. There is a felt strip on the back panel where we believe it's coming from because when you wipe it with a rag, brown comes off on it. Do you know what we can do to prevent this problem?

The marks are coming from your dryer seal. I had the brown mark problem on my Whirlpool LER4634EQ1 Dryer. It turns out that the inner drum seal wore the paint off the pilot diameter on the inner wall. The pilot diameter rusted and the rust transfered onto the seal. The marks on the clothes are rust marks. I replaced the seal on my dryer, but don't know how long it will last. You may need to try and paint the pilot diameter. The seal with glue was $34 delivered from pcappliancerepair.com. Here's pictures of the rust: http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/ZeeVert/Whirlpool%20Dryer/

If you believe the felt is the problem, you can go to Sears.com and look up the replacement part via the Parts Direct section. You will need the Model number which if you open the door, it should be a label on the body of the door frame. Using the model number you can look up the parts diagram for your Dryer. Hope this helps a little.

Whirlpool dyer will not work, have replaced the board but

Sounds like the control panel may be dead. If you cannot get any lights to come on at all on the front panel, its probably a goner. You can check the voltage coming out of the control pc board via the schematic inside the dryer panel. I have this same exact problem. I replaced the control board 3 times because the panel seems fine if i plug it into an external power supply but will not work when plugged into my dryer. I have my jumpered and running off of a circuit breaker. I have checked every part in the entire unit. That was over 2 years ago. I still need to get a control panel and see if it fixes mine but after dropping $130 on the control board, i feel i could buy another dryer with the $200 they want for the control panel. Also this dryer seems to streak my clothes with brown or rust colored spots. The dryer is spotless inside. I even took off the rubber seal because i thought the glue is what was possibly doing it when it heated up but that didn't help either....This dryer sucks.

Whirlpool duet dryer felt seal replacement

The drum may to be removed to install the new felt gasket but the old drum can then be reinstalled. The felt gasket seals the joint where the drum rotates at the inside back panel. It is likely that the inside back panel can be removed when the dryer is placed front-down and the outside back panel is removed. In that case the drum does not have to come out.
