Question about Canon PowerShot S3 IS Digital Camera
This is the common E18 or Lens error problem in such PowerShot family cameras.
It may be a minor issue caused by dust or samd particles, which requires to have blowing in compressed air inside the camera, mainly in front of the lens area.
Also, it may be a major problem in the lens mechanism, where the internal gears (three of them) or the USM motor (Ultrasonic motor) are damaged.
If after blowing in compressed air the problem didn't dissapear, then you will need to have a qualified camera repair service in evaluate and quote the repair of the camera.
Other option is that if you are good or want to attemp the own repair fo the camera, you can find a broken camera (won't power on, broken LCD screen) in ebay or other online places, and swap parts. This requires some tools to open the camera, and a lot of precaution to see how the screws and parts are assembled.
I hope this helps you.
