I tried to add music to it and it won't add. I have plenty of room on it, and it usually works every time.

Keep in mind that these are mini hard drives (just like a computer.) From time to time they will become fragmented (especially with more files or music stored). Dialing the RCA help desk will be fustrating and useless because after waiting 40+ minutes, their expertise (from a dude doing his job in India) will only say that it is notworking and to refer to the warranty(which is also useless). But let me get back to the point. These units usually have a reset button. Also, you my need to go to the meny and profile the files (this little thing just tels the unit what it has in storage) but if all else fails, then when you connect this MP3 player to your PC, go to My Computer, and on the RCA Lyra icon, right click once and go to the you can format the drive to erase make sure you save all of your music first. After this you will be good to go. Also, try going to and in their support page look for a firmware (the program that runs the MP3 player) update that might fix these bugs. I have sold hundreds of RCA MP3 players and playingwith these units has taught me what I know.

Can not hook up my ipod

You need to download iTunes and create a library. Once you have iTunes installed...follow these steps.

  1. Add music to your hard drive by inserting CD's into your computer. When you put in a CD it may ask you to import the music into your library, or you may have to click the button on the lower right that says import music. iTunes generally finds the song titles and CD name by itself, but if the CD is obscure or a local band you may have to type it yourself.
  2. iTunes will automatically add the music you took from the CD to your library.
  3. You can also add music you may already have on your computer by going to File> Add file to library or File> Add folder to library. Once you have added all of the music you want to put on the shuffle, go to step 4.
  4. You can now plug in your iPod. iTunes should recognize the iPod pretty quickly. You will see it under a tab on the left called devices. Once it finds the iPod, you should be able to select music from your library and drag it directly to the Shuffle.
  5. You can click on the iPod's icon in the left side column and do several different things. But mainly I would just use it to see how much space you have left for your music.
It's as easy as that! Comment on this post if you need more help.

Well..i jus got a new memory card for my motorola rokr and i have been trying to format it and after i press format, it says format but when i plug it back into my phone after putting music in it, it say...

what type of memory card are you using?

on page 24 of the manual it states the following:-

phone can use a memory card with a capacity of up to 2 GB (greater than 1 GB storage guaranteed only for SanDisk
microSD cards)

If you are not using a SanDisk card and it is greater than 1G this may be the problem.

have you tried to format the card frm your PC and then add the files?
