Toshiba 8000 system disc message

Hi Larry,

This happens when either the system disk is corrupt or faulty, or, when another disk with higher priority but no operating system is in the computer.

Typically removable disks like CD's, DVD's, Floppy disks, Memory Cards and USB flash drives can all take higher priority than your windows drive as any can be used to load up diagnostic software when it is damaged.

So, Remove all disks, USB devices(including printers), CD's or DVD's et al and try again. If this still happens with everything removed/disconnected, then your problem is with the Windows install or the harddrives physical components. If it works try reattaching/inserting the disks and devices one at a time then restarting and you will figure out which one is causing the problem.

If it didn't work you will need to get to a hardware shop and have them test the hard drive to see if it's faulty. If not contact Toshiba and order a set of recovery disks, when they arive insert disk one then turn the machine on and an onscreen wizard will walk you through re-installing. If they determine there's a hardware issue with the drive, either buy/warranty a new drive then order the disks from Toshiba and follow the above instructions.
