Yes, you either need an adapter sold at most places like best buy, amazon, newegg, etc. or a changeover cable most likely available at those same places.
If Your TV and Laptop have HDMI Port then you just need a HDMI Cable.
But if you dont have HDMI port. then you need two cables one from video and one for audio.
For Video you either VGA Cable(if you have VGA Port in your TV) or VGA to RCA Cable (Yellow Pin will be for video)
For audio You Need 3.5mm pin to RCA (white and Red for audio).
This pic is of VGA to RCA Cable
Your laptop does not have a HDMI port. You only have VGA, you have to purchase a VGA to VGA cable VGA is video only interface. So you will need it along with the stereo audio cable http://pctvcables.com/vga-with-audio-pc-to-tv-cables.html Note that the stereo audio cable shoulb be connected from the headphones jack on your laptop to the headphones jack on you home theater system if you have one or buy this adapter plug the stereo audio cable coming from the laptop into it and connect it to the stereo audio in (red and white audio)of your tv http://www.amazon.com/Male-3-5mm-Stereo-Female-Y-Cable/dp/B000I23TTE
You need a VGA cable (15 pin) connected from PC (monitor out) to the PC input on the HDTV (15 pin) this is for the video. For the audio, connect from PC to HDTV, audio cable, either 3.5mm from earphone out on PC to HDTV 3.5mm audio input (next to PC VGA input) and also be sure to set PC screen resolution to compatible output for HDTV like 1024 X 768 or 600 x 800 etc.
Is this a standard VGA cable with a plug ato both ends? If yes, they are available where computer equipment is sold. If it is hard wired, you need to take your monitor in for repair.
Since the monitor has a seperate jack (round, diameter 3.5mm) for audio in, the typical VGA cable doesn't include audio.Nevertheless the audio cable isn't so big (in diameter) as the VGA one.
