well lots really, A/T box have huge list of causes.

4-speed ZF 4HP16 automatic what is is this.
there is no 5th, so 5 is TCC lock up only but sure feels like it sure.
what to do is this.
1: check all fuses. (
2:
scan the PCM for DTC errors P07xx errors
3: check oil level of box, by reading the glove box guide. , hot engine, in park at idle , fluid at top mark (hot) never ever overfill the transmission. or boom. happens.boom and doom;(yup)
skipping 3/4 gears causes. (my guess skips 3 and goes 4th+TCC)
transmission in limp home (scans tell why , so scan it) skips gears.
transmission bad speed sensor , scans told you which failed.
transmission some of 6 solenoids fail , again scans.
or worse, leaks inside the box (seals vast) cause the main gallery ATF pressure to not be correct for 3 or 4 clutch is bad.
3/4 gear is not flare or flash neutral right. just skips the gear
from 2 to 4 right shifc, huge engine RPM drop, that.?
most boxes (TCM logic) only allow TCC lockup on 4th gear.
so 3 is bad, skips. (but ZF boxes I do not know well, GM yes )
transmission= box , transbox. slangs.A/T box.

beg ,barrow, rent or buy a scan tool, or get it scanned in a shop
in the USA a 2008 or newer scan tool real is best not $17 code readers. one needs to see all codes (DTC) errors even factory only codes. OK?
