Question about Samsung HL-S5087W DLP TV

1 Answer

Rattling sound from the Samsung DLP TV

It does continue for a little while after turning the TV off so I'm thinking it is the cooling fan. May be the color wheel but the picture is still great.

Your Color Wheel is bad and needs to be replaced by a trained Samsung tech. There are adjustments that must be made after the color wheel is replaced. Part# is BP96-01579A

that's from a thermal switch, to keep the innards cool, post use. Seems to me that you might just check to see that all vents are open and clear of debris, for starters.

Yes,the problem is the colors wheel it dead. That one of the cause by the colors wheel, other are alots of squiling noises and making very loud buzzing sound. The cooling fan that u think is overheating, does it stop sometimes, when the tv is still on?Yes,than replaced it also,no than it still ok.Just hire the tv repairman, the parts he'll take care of it,don't order the parts,u might get the wrong parts or different sizes, that will not fit in ur tv.

I have a 42" Samsung DLP that makes noise that sounds like it's coming from the fan. The sound starts after the TV has been on for 20-30 minutes; it's a winding type sound and continues until after the TV...

These models usually suffer from a bad color wheel. You will know that the color wheel is at fault if the sounds goes away right when the lamp shuts off. Look at the back of the set and watch for the lamp to shut down. The color wheel is not a consumer replaceable item.

Samsung DLP TV is making a buzzing sound. Sounds like something spinning. Can hear it speed up to full spend when turned on and slow down and stop when powering off the TV. Loud at times.

More than likely this is the cooling fan. I have a Samsung DLP myself, and at times, I can hear the fan running also. There could be something wrong with the fan, but I kind of doubt it. Just make sure that the TV is in a spot with lots of ventilation....otherwise, you might have to live with this noise.

Hope this helps!!

Referral from Ekse. DLP Samsung spinning noise

the most likely cause would be either the color wheel or the cooling fan. If you listen at the rear cover can you dtermine where the noise is loudest? does the noise instantly go away when you turn the power off after its been on awhile? If so its the color wheel, If not its the cooling fan.
